Nighttime Temporary Road Closures

TRAFFIC ALERT - Nighttime Temporary Road Closures in New Castle and Kent County for an Oversized Load

Tuesday, April 28

Wilmington -- The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that temporary road closures for a short period of time beginning at 12 a.m. and ending at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28 will be in effect to move an oversized load to Maryland.

The following roadways will experience temporary road closures:

*Route 72/Wrangle Hill Road at Route 4/Chestnut Hill Road to Route 1
*Route 300/Glenwood Avenue at Route 13/DuPont Highway to Route 11/Arthursville
Road
*Route 11/Arthursville Road at Route 300/Sudlersville Road to the Delaware/Maryland state line

In addition during the move on Tuesday, April 28, the following roadways will be impacted: Routes 4, 72, 1, 13, 300, and 11 to the Delaware/Maryland Line. The move will take approximately six hours at a speed of 40-45 miles per hour.

Delaware State Police will accompany the oversized load to help alert motorists of the closure and provide intersection control along the route.

Motorists are advised to be aware of lane shifts and expect delays.
