It is really strange (not) that just when they need a capable and professional Internal Investigator they found a way to silence the one they have.
It is the Wardens mis-management that is directly responsible for allowing these types of situations to continue.
However, the County Executive is ultimaely responsible by his failure to put in place a strong and professional management team.

Get your facts straight. Ofc. williams is not married to an inmate. Sgt. Armstrong also is not married to an inmate and Lt. Deal is not married at all.
All of these women are outstanding correctional officers and I am proud of them.

Obviously they don't mind the scum of the earth if they date and/or are married to them and their life is on the line before they go to work if they hang around with the scum of the earth outside of the bars.
I was a Corrections Officer and know what goes on behing the bars but I did not date or marry the inmates, I have much more RESPECT FOR MYSELF!!!!!! You would have been fired from Dorchester County Dept of Corrections for having relations or outside contact with a criminal.

It sounds like 4:25 knows these individuals and their marital status. Any comments beyond this point is malicious and cowardly unless the commenter has facts to refute what 4:25 wrote.
4:25 is anonymous so what makes what they said any different or more believable than what anyone else said. For all we know 4:25 could be Williams, Armstrong, or Deal.
If an officer is married to an inmate they should be fired on the spot. They are the type who will sneak cell phones, drugs, and weapons into the jail/prison putting good officers lives in jeopardy.

know for a fact that officers date inmates and have married them i use to work there, They dont even act like there is anything wrong with it, I think the hole place needs to be really looked into theres alot of things that happen behind CLOSED DOORS there,

most agencies have a policy in place that prohibits intimate or friendship type relationships with inmates or prior inmates.why wcdc doesnt have such a policy i dont know.or is it that they just dont enforce it? put me in charge for 30 days that place would see a drastic change.for one i would change the hiring process and also terminate any staff involved in misconduct or relationships with inmates or prior inmates. i dont care who they share intimacy with they just wont be employed by wcdc.not as a discrimination butto keep a safe working environment for the good staff.this type of behavior compromises the security of the public staff and other inmates.i would make the requirements higher such as physical conditioning like that of police depts.when the requirements for a job raise so do the caliber of people who apply.this will also help morale and also lower the turn over rate knowing youre working with good reliable people.these officers dating inmates are probably responsible for over 80% of contraband in the institution.the warden should be terminated and replaced immediately its obvious they have no clue how to run that place.if i had to i would temporarily assign deputies there until i could get reliable staff in place.

What if they are married before their spouse became an inmate, say they were married for 5 years and then their spouse was locked up. Should they be fired then?

if they are married first, then the inmate should do their time in another facility where the guard is not employed. detention centers switch inmates all the time. somerset inmates are in wcdc, wcdc inmates are in worcester...it happens everyday.
This sounds like a broken record. There is obviously issues that need to be addressed but no one does anything about them. Does anyone realize that the good ole boy system wins even when you don't want it too. It would be nice to have Mike Lewis come in and change things but for as long as everyone has been saying that, nothing has been done! Its frustrating and I personally wish that there would be changes made to benefit everyone at the Detention Center.
Say what you want, but as long as Devenyns is employed at WCDC there will always be major problems. Obviously Pollitt doesn't have what it takes to get rid of him.
You have failed to mention Ofc. Melvin. She is married to Sherman Melvin. In fact she married him while he was in ECI. Her brother-in-law was Lonnie Melvin. Lonnie was one of the biggest drug dealers in the Salisbury area. Lonnie was gunned down while dealing. Her other brother-in-law, Curtis Melvin, died at ECI by swallowing drugs that he intended to sell in the prison.
Now Sherman may be a straight arrow now, I have no proof to say otherwise. It just seems that the administration of Wcdc should take a closer look at their finances.
I do not work at Wcdc and do not know Ofc. Melvin personally, but I do know the family she married into. Crap will stink no matter where it is.
it's a moot point. i used to work for one of the other centers.
by law, they have to have a certain # of guards per shift. in all honesty, most people who CAN get another job don't want to work with criminals. seriously - do you? so they hire anyone who applies who seems remotely sober or sane. they can't fire them without having someone else in place to replace them, no matter what they do. and as long as the number of inmates keeps rising, it won't change.
and really - let's be honest - do you really give a crap what goes on in prison? do you care if the inmates are having consentual sex or doing drugs? i think if you were being honest with yourself, you really just don't want them back on the streets. once they're locked up, it's not your problem.
if you want to run your mouths about something worthwhile, start questioning the judges who give serious offenses probabtion and investigate the judges and lawyers. make sure the people who should be locked up are and stay there.
would i ever date an inmate or former inmate? heck no. would i work with that population again? heck no. but do i care what happens to them or what they do once they're locked up? nope. toss the keys and move on.
Statistics win..One out of nine Americans have prison time...So it just another All American prison. Besides it save court time..Spouses are exempt from testimony. LOL

I agree 9:16. Until the people that are leaving all these negative post come and actually work at the jail, just shut up. You dont have a clue of what happens on a daily basis inside the institution. Half of the people that leave comments on here would never step foot inside the jail or work in that type of atmosphere. So for the people that do I commend you and keep up the good work. All it takes for one bad apple to ruin the bunch. There is corruption at every job. These so call "personal" comments will not change what is really going on @ wcdc. But, what it really does is bring distrust among the officers. This is something the officers who "slave" in this jail don't need. The uppers read this blog every day. They laugh at the fact that the officers do not trust one another. This divide the staff and causes conflicts. This is the reason the staff have so many problems amongst themselves. The officers have been divided and can be easily conquered. This is what the uppers want. Divide them. Then we can conquer them. What the staff do in there personal life is their business. As long as it does not effect their professional life. Has any of these women and men you have spoken of done anything serious that effects the operation of wcdc. No they have not. With this in mind, maybe we can all just get along and focus on the REAL problems @ wcdc.
