WCSO Charges Man With 4 Counts Of Animal Cruelty

Incident: Animal Cruelty
Date of Incident: 12 March 2009
Location: 25000 block of Elzey Brown Loop, Mardela Springs, MD
Suspect: Terrell Duane Strawberry, 29, Mardela Springs, MD

Narrative: On 17 December 2008
, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into animal cruelty occurring at the residence of Terrell Strawberry in the 25000 block of Elzey Brown Loop in Mardela Springs. While at the scene, deputies were joined by representatives of the Wicomico County Humane Society and together they observed evidence of several maltreated dogs. They observed several dogs that appeared emaciated due to malnutrition along with four dogs that had open wounds. All of the dogs were secured by heavy chains. Upon further checking of the premises, they located a deceased dog that had apparently been left there unattended.

The dogs were seized by the humane society and the one deceased dog was sent for a necropsy. Upon receiving the result of the necropsy it appeared the deceased dog died as a result of malnutrition and a general lack of care.

On 10 March 2009, the investigating deputy obtained a warrant for the arrest of Terrell Strawberry, charging him with multiple counts of Animal Cruelty. On 12 March 2009, a deputy located Strawberry and placed him under arrest. Strawberry was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, Strawberry was released by the Commissioner on Personal recognizance.

Animal Cruelty / Cause deprivation of necessary sustenance – 4 counts

I don't understand why someone keeps animals they arent able to take care of. It's obviously not because of love of the animals. If it's a case of can't afford to feed, wouldn't the shelter come get them if you call and explain the situation? It's sad to see animals treated this way

From the looks of this guy , he can certainly feed himself. I have
no sympathy for this type of human.
Can't afford the food , I don't want to hear it!

They should lock this bastard up outside, chained to a tree or something and not feed or care for him.

I hate people who don't care for their animals..

Let me take a guess, the poor things were pit bulls.

Believe me, this guy has money coming in. Whether it's legal or not is another question. Wish the Sheriff could search the premises for more than what is listed here although it's important to get the poor dear animals out. Wouldn't the use of drug-sniffing drugs at this residence be a beautiful irony?

It doesn't look like he has been without food or water. I just don't understand why some people think they need to have animals when they cannot or do not feed & water them. It is so sad to see this. I agree, I have no sympathy for what may happen to him.

Yes, do the drug-sniffing dogs at this location. He and his group will be arrested for more than animal cruelty.

How can this man be charged? He is paralyzed, he can't even walk.. There is more to this story!

Drugs in and drugs out, no walking required.

Some one would have to walk to feed & water the dogs and take care of them (alone) drugs or not!

Bottom line; If he is unable to take care of these dogs, he should not have them. Feed him to the dogs.

he also should not be able to have no animals at all for the rest of his life .what a worthless p.o.s.

Very true, but the number of people who come in and out of his residence in a day is incredible. They could have fed and watered the dogs for him.

Put the worthless piece of shit in a cell with Mike Vick, then let a hundred pit bull terriers who have been abused in the cell to carry out justice! Quam minimus credula postero, muther-f***ers!

My Beagle is a better "man" than this clown and, of course, dog killer Vick!
