Troopers Investigate Numerous Theft from Motor Vehicle Complaints in Rehoboth Beach Area

Rehoboth Beach – The Delaware State Police are currently investigating several theft from motor vehicles that occurred late Sunday evening through early Monday morning. Nine separate victims called police to report their vehicles had been entered and property was removed.
All of these incidents occurred in separate driveways of homes in the following developments: Rehoboth Beach Yacht and Country Club, Kingsale Glen and Silverview Farms. The crimes occurred between the hours of 11:00 pm this past Sunday evening and 5:00 am on Monday.
Property taken included GPS Navigation devices, radar detectors, I-Pod’s, portable DVD players and small amounts of money. Investigators note that all the vehicles involved were unsecured and no forced entry was used by the culprits.
The Delaware State Police are encouraging all persons to lock and secure their vehicles if they remain parked in the driveway or along a roadway overnight. Leaving a vehicle unsecured presents a crime of opportunity for a criminal and in many cases if the vehicle is locked the criminal will not force entry and will attempt to enter another unsecured vehicle.
Additionally, the DSP is asking for neighbors and residents to be vigilant of their surroundings and to report any suspicious person(s) and/or vehicle(s) they observe in their communities to police. Residents are asked to gather as much detail as possible on the description of the person or vehicle and then call 911 to report it.

lol. If you're going to leave expensive stuff in your car, lock the doors. I don't care if you are parked in a locked garage.
It's easy for insurance to claim if the window is broken, but if the people just walk up and take the stuff, there's a lot of gray area there.
I'll be surprised if the insurance
covers any vehicle that was not locked.
I could have sworn that I heard someone proclaim that you could leave your doors unlocked if you live on Delmarva?? Wow, what a huge farce. Having my personal belongings stolen is high on my "quality of life" scale as well.

I heard of some people out in Wicomico having valuables stolen out of their cars in their driveways. I think on the east side.
It's all out there, folks. Gangers at 13 years old being run by the 18 year old members. Cops can't touch a minor, and the goods go to buy drugs. That's the way the gangs work. Get used to it. Write your congressmen if you want the minor perps to have consequences. It's a Maryland law that needs to be addressed. The 18+ year olds are running these gangs, and there is nothing legally anyone can do about it. Bloods, Crips, and MS13 are all here, and running the same game. Anyone protecting with a gun in an instant criminal. fight in Congress, beceause that's all we have... at the moment. Go to the Tea party and learn how to contact your congressman, then schedule a half hour each day to write them about one issue or another. Get acquainted with new bills being introduced and comment on them. Make this your new "blog" because when they get inundated with opinions, they must answer you and justify their actions to you.
