Congratulations to this outstanding athlete! There are so many good players in Little League, Pony League, Senior League, etc that we can look forward to hundreds of posts about individual kids.
You know why the catcher is the most important player on the field? Because he is the only one they can see the whole field on every play. When Devon Warwick was my catcher I was always a better pitcher. Good job Ben, way to get the stick on her. Congradulations to the team, it takes nine to play.
I know I am teaching my son to be a switch-hitting catcher. I think we all know now given the current steroid nonsense, that it really ISN'T about the long ball. Who is really MAN enough to put on the pads in August {when the heat index is 105} and squat behind the plate for three hours to call a good game and make his pitching staff look good. And for my money-home runs are good stuff-but a "trainwreck" at the plate after an outfielder hustled to cut a ball off in the gap, and then hit the cut-off man, and nailed the dude trying to score from first.....man, now THAT is how you score hot ACC chicks.
Reese got some Rose in him.
That Wieters kid is a monster...but I've always been likened to more of a 'degenerate' version of Brooks Robinson {yes ladies, I got THIS body with absolutely no steroids...easy ladies-you break it; you bought it....hey, what?, No laughing-it effects my self-esteem..seriously}. With those aluminum bats, you have to be a little bit of a head case to want to play the hot corner these days, as well. I really really really do miss Earl Weaver getting ejected during line-up card presentations prior to BOTH games of a doubleheader, though!!
