Newark Woman Succumbs to Crash Related Injuries Four Days Later

Location of Incident: Linden Hill Road, east of Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, Delaware, New Castle County

Date and Time of Occurrence: Friday, February 20, 2009, at approximately 2:57 p.m.

Resume: On Friday afternoon, Troopers responded to Linden Hill Road, east of Polly Drummond Hill Road, for the report of a two vehicle crash.

A 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser (operated by Many Anne Embley, 44, of Landenburg, PA) was traveling eastbound on Linden Hill Road. A 2004 Ford Mustang (operated by Kathryn Doochack, 57, of Newark) was traveling westbound on Linden Hill Road approaching the Toyota.

For an unknown reason, the Ford traveled into the eastbound lane and struck the Toyota head-on.

Ms. Embley was treated at Christiana Hospital with non-threatening injuries.

Ms. Doochack was admitted to Christiana Hospital. On February 24th, she died as a result of the injuries she sustained in the crash.

The crash has been turned over to the DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit for a follow-up investigation.

No charges have been filed.
