Grandad: Rick, you really need to lay off the donuts. You're freakin huge!

Rick: I know Bob, but they got a hold of me. I can't stop!

Rick: Bob, have you been dipping into the Just For Men again?

Bob: Hey, just cause they call me Grandad doesn't mean I gotta look like one!

Bob wants Joe Holloways seat so bad he can taste it. Does anyone think he has a chance for the seat?

My naps are in the sack of course : ) what else would you put in a nap sack? LoL

From what I have heard from Grand Dad I believe he'd get my vote. Sounds like he doesn't want to demand control, he wants the people to have their say. I.E. liquor referendum and other comments I've heard from him to give the power back to "The People."

We have the power, when the leaders no longer represent us (just as was the case with Gilchrest) we need to kick their asses to the curb. Once you've lost touch with the people, there is no place for you in this democracy.

Hell, no. Granddad's past will surface and his candidancy will be down the drain. I have heard he is wanting a job as a sheriff again but for some reason it isn't happening.

Granddad: Im telling you the county needs to take over fire and ems.

Rick: Why is that we have many other issues to deal with?

Granddad: There is mis management everywhere. Down in Allen City a pt left on a backboard on the ground for a very long time when the paramedic should have transported him. It isnt just there Rick. Over yonder in the big town of Pittsville they had an
employee claiming to be an ALS provider. He wasnt even certified to pass out bandaides but he was doing ALS work.

Rick: What would Salisburys Mayor do in a situation like this?

Well we'll just have to see what happens.
If I do decide to run, the candidacy wouldn't be about me....it would be about representing the will of the people - not what a representative wants that suits themselves or their friends. I have nothing to hide. If you think you have something, bring it and bring proof. The thing about some of the anonymous commentors is that they can make any baseless claim they wish and they don't have to provide any proof because they feel that they can remain anonymous.

LOL-Grandad obviously works out a little

Well said, Grand Dad!!!!
I believe that anonymity is a double edged sword...it enables people to speak without fear of retaliation (such as from
fob's, etc.) but it also allows crackpots to say whatever without fear of being held accountable.
As far as you running for county council, we live in what would be your district, and would wholeheartedly support you in any way we could. You GET it. Not enough of our representatives in gov't do.

Rick:I'm doing all I can to get this place straightened out, but I need help from someone honest, trustworthy and logical. Can you give me a hand?

Bob: ABSOLUTELY!

I can't imagine a circumstance under which that conversation would take place.....at least those comments coming from me. I am of the opinion that in most cases the govt. is already too large and intrusive. Also, I believe the Fire Departments and their EMS do very well. How they function as an individual entity should remain in house. They do a fine job. They volunteer their time. They give of themselves and take away from their families in order to provide a service to which a price cannot be attached. Where would we be if those folks didn't have the sense of community they obviously have. If you throw increased govt. intervention into the mix, that sense of community will dry up. Mistakes can and do occur in any field. How many mistakes are made by Doctors and Lawyers? We are all human beings and are apt to make mistakes.

Fire departments and the ems do well but the conversation about pittsville having a employee praticing als without a license is true. They are covering it well so far. I am suprised Joe hasnt broke this story yet on the site. Maybe the mainstream media will get to it first.

How is it a mistake when you know you failed test to become a paramedic yet you continue to praticse in the feild until you are caught with your pants down. Why did the department or the EMS Captain of Pittsville not catch the mistake? Was this guy the provider on Pittsvilles ambulance that was providing coverage for salisbury during the open house they had?
i hope he didnt work on any of my relatives

i could care less about someone's past. it's all about "what are you going to do for me now?" and who are you now that i care about.

There is nothing in Bugsy's past that would prevent him from running for office or heading back to the badge. Bob good luck in all you do. Thanks for the well thought out and logical post. I do remember one quote from back in the day " Dude once you snap I dont think we ever go back " You were right but sometimes that is s good thing. Give em hell buddy. You have got my vote either way you go
