Salvation Army Nostalgia
DON’T FORGET THE SALVATION ARMY!
And don’t miss this snippet Don't Forget The Salvation Army from a recording of the song of that name made in 1919 at the Edison recording studio and released on “Edison Blue Amberol” cylinders. The lead vocalist is Arthur Fields, who was a leading recording artist of the early 20th Century.
The entire recording and many others from the “cylinder days” are available at the website of the Cylinder Preservation and Digitization Project of the University of California, Santa Barbara, which has a collection of nearly 8,000 cylinder recordings that includes some from the 19th Century.
