Video Surveillance Shows Chauncey’s Surf Shop Burglary Suspect

On Sunday, October 5, 2008, at about 4 am, Ocean City Police Officers responded to Chauncey's Surf Shop(5309 Coastal Highway, Ocean City), in reference to a premise alarm. When Officers arrived at the scene they immediately noticed the front plate glass window of the surf shop had been smashed. Officers quickly discovered various items of merchandise which included skateboard decks, skateboard wheels and skateboard trucks had been stolen by the suspects by reaching through the smashed window. During the investigation Officers recovered surveillance footage of the suspect and learned that the suspect had come to the store the previous day. The suspect is described as a black male thin build about 6 feet tall. The suspect has black hair and appears to have a 2 inch thick afro. During the day the suspect was seen wearing a green hooded sweat shirt and green knit cap. The suspect was observed riding a bike. During the evening hours the suspect is again seen wearing a hooded sweat shirt, blue jeans and a pair of “skater” type sneakers. At this time, the suspect is believed to be in a dark colored passenger car.
