Fernando Guerrero/Showtime Part I

Just a few points I'd like to make. First of all, there were 5,200 tickets sold out of a 5,380 total seats available. The 180 tickets not sold were comp tickets for the Promoter, trainer and press.

The Civic Center Staff said "It was the best thing to ever happen to the Civic Center."

They added that there have only been two other events that had the same kind of ticket sales. The Monster Trucks and Carrie Underwood, (sp?).

Hal Chernoff told me that Fernando's opponent was having a difficult time walking and getting around when he went to go catch his plane. DUH! More to come.......

hey Joe,

any idea if they plan on having something like this again soon?

Probably after the 1st of the new year.

I'm on the phone as we speak with Hal Chernoff and he said "with the support Salisbury showed, it's inevitable."

"The icing on the cake was the way everyone from the Eastern Shore showed up."

"Fernando was really blown away with the support."

"Showtime said it was the best event they ever had, unsurpassed."

Great shots Joe! (Parts 1, 2 & 3) I am so proud of Fernando! I'll bet Fernando's opponent felt like he'd had the hell beaten out of him...oops...he did!

"We're thrilled Salisbury gave so much support. Now we need to go back to work, train and give Salisbury another great show.

"Fernando ran in the Vernon Powell 5k run the very next day." Davis Ruark challenged him and he showed up. Fernando actually placed 2nd in that run with over 250 runners in the race, AFTER THE FIGHT THE NIGHT BEFORE!

Joe, I honestly have to give you credit. Those are some of the finest pictures I've ever seen you put on this blog.

Thank You! You can't beat luck. LOL

It's a disgrace that The Daily Times couldn't even come close to your coverage. Don't they realize they are in Salisbury as well?

Thanks Jock,

Here's what I found most interesting. Here I am with a $2,000.00 camera, (2 years ago) and I'm up against all these professionals who sport $20,000.00 cameras and have all this training. You tell me, are my shots better than what you've seen out there?

Then you go back to the Daily Times where I know for a fact Todd takes some of the best pictures over anyone here oin the Eastern Shore, yet someone else from the Daily Times picks which ones they will use for their articles and quite frankle, (forgive me Todd) they sucked!

The so called professionals were pushing and shoving everyone else and again, look at the end result, mine verses theirs.

I know, i'm tooting my own horn here but it is what it is.

I wouldn't deny it was good for the Civic Center but they've sold out a bunch of Country Concerts over the years and not just Cartie Underwood. These certainly weren't the only two.

On another note Joe, those are some GOOD pictures. Kudos to you! I gotta agree, you're pics are as good as any, including Wayne B's.

Joe, Any idea if those are local ladies? Not that I'd ever have a shot at em but I was just wonderin. (and dreamin!)

What $20,000 cameras do they use? Are they using Hasselblads?

Todd Dudek taking some of the best photos on the Eastern Shore??? You must be joking. Some of his underlings have taken much better photos than Todd, Joey Gardner, Milt Savage, the list goes on. Don't pat Todd on the back too much, his ego is big enough as it is.

Half the time, the Daily Times doesn't even give the correct photographer credit for their own photo.

When is the sports section coming?
With photos of that quality, you should be able to fetch a good price.
I spoke to someone tonight who watched the fight on Showtime and he said it was awesome. It was promoted well and the folks really showed up. The rest was done by Fernando.
