The Daily Slimes Strikes Again!
"Is is just me or did anyone notice that one of the biggest headlines in Salisbury's history was not a headline on Saturday in the Daily Slimes? I was happy to see Fernando's picture on the front page but where was the headline!!!! That young man and this town deserved front page headline news on Saturday morning and it wasn't there. It just shows that they just don't have a clue as to what news really is. History was made Friday night and it should have been there!"

He deserves a headline in the sporting section. It's still a sport Joe and he's not running for president.
Joe you are absolutely right..AGAIN! You recognized the big picture and we are so grateful for that.
Anon 9:18 This event was so much more than just a sports venue. With Joes help and other hard working folks behind the scenes, it became a magnet for the community. I think the big picture has less to do with sports and more to do with local "front page" news.
Joe did not write this...I did and yes, I do care. History was made here you all! Some of you might not care and that is your prerogative. I think that it is great that something positive happened here in Salisbury.
i agree totally i saw the picture on front page and looked everywhere for the article b/c i wasn't able to make the fight i wanted the details.....
Sorry, I agree with Nancy. I saw the picture, but, NO WRITE-UP!! I was surprized too. Yes, that evening was very exciting. I was there, and, so very proud to see the support that Fernando got. He surely deserved it. I do believe he knows the support by seeing that the civic center was FULL! I keep the paper coming just so I can read the great things happening. I think I am just about fed up with them. 9:10, was he in the sporting section? Guess I missed it
I have to agree with this post. It disheartens me to see a couple of these comments not giving the credit due. What is more important than to promote the good in our community. Support the people that are doing the right things and give them the recognition they deserve. Anon 9:09 I care and so did all the people that went to the the fight. There wasn't many unfilled seats. You certainly are the minority here. Anon 9:10 The Daily Disappointment is still a local paper and the fight was the most exciting thing that happen locally in a very long time.
This was one of the most positive events for the city all year. It clearly had a positive impact for all. We were on the national spotlight for something that doesn't get to happen in much larger cities, let alone little old Salisbury. My guess is that the current administration didn't want a ruckus made because they didn't have a hand in making this happen.
On the other hand, who really cares what the daily rag reports anyway. I've cancelled my subscription many years ago and haven't missed a thing. This paper could blow away in the wind and no one would notice.
History was made Friday evening.
I could care less about the paper,
however I was disappointed in the massive exit that left after the great Fernando fight and totally didn't care about the feature fight
which in my opinion was the best fight of the night, De La Rosa's decision over Coleman. I can only imagine what Showtime thought.
Did anyone see the paper's Fernando poster in Friday?
It was great -- a real keeper!
Also, the Thurday article on Fernando that told all about his difficult life was a real eye opener.
Kudos to the Daily Times.
