The 2008 Virginia Republican Convention had a very similar stage this year with "Greek Temple Columns".
I don't think this will help him. The sway voters are usually the smartest and this “dramatic display of our hero” will undermine their intelligence and turn them away. He has lost poll numbers since Berlin.

Greek revivalist architecture is the aesthetic of all of our major United States Legislative, Executive, and Judicial buildings. It's part of our history, dating back to the beginning of the Republic. What's the big deal?

The "big deal" is the enormous waste of money that this "Greek Temple" cost just for Obama's ego. So much for Obama's quest for less government spending.
Its official, white baby boomers that have worked hard and achieved financial success are in for the fight of our lives. Suddenly it is a crime against society to have worked hard, avoided terrorists,drugs,and affirmative action. The productive people in this country MUST BE PUNISHED, their wealth seized and redistributed to the Have Nots. This must happen because George Soros, William Ayers and Jeremiah Wright say so. They have been working on "the Obama Project" for decades and it damn well better pay off.
The money spent on this ridiculous ego stroking for "the One" could have helped George Obama rotting over in Kenya while his brother basks in his coliseum.
Ok, 7PM-- so if that happened to be the stage from which McCain was set to speak, would you be raising the same question? I mean, honestly? I seriously doubt it.

In the face of the TRILLIONS of dollars squandered by the republicans in the past 7 years, one silly little stage set, which MAYBE cost in the tens of thousands of dollars qualifies as an "enormous" waste of money? Well her we go again. We blame everybody but the ones responsible for the mess we’re in. Think about it people, WE ARE THE ONES THAT PUT THESE PEOPLE IN OFFICE AND WE KEEP RE-ELECTING THEM. If you want change, unite and start getting rid of these people. Hold the ones in there now accountable. Mail letters, send Emails, make phone calls go to local town meetings, GET INVOLVED.
I know, it’s to much trouble. Well accept what you helped to make and keep complaining. I spent my time in the service preserving your rights.

I think "tens of thousands of dollars" for Obama's ego is an ENORMOUS waste of money and since you don't, I would say YOU are the one that needs to reevaluate. Tell me why Obama needs a special stage built other than his ego.

10:12- So, if that was your answer to my question, then you would be ok with the money being spent if he HAD, in fact, been elected already-- in which case the neo-classical Greek architecture would be alright with you, correct?
It has nothing to do with Obama stroking his ego-- when big conventions are held, big stages and elaborate sets are constructed. That's how it works. It costs money to do these sorts of things, you know. Again, repub logic-- damned if you do, damned if you don't.
