Jeremy Gordy Booted Out Of The Bullpen

It was a BIG weekend on Assateague Island as many members of the AMSA get together once a year and enjoy a weekend on the Beach.

However, this year things took quite the twist for Mr. Gordy. Aparently while Mr. Gordy was in the Bullpen area, someone allegedy tipped them off that Mr. Gordy had not paid his dues and was no longer a Member and after the first night, they booted him out of there and sent him packing.

Sadly, this left Salisbury News without any wild pictures because the boy simply wasn't anywhere to be found and allegedly left in a rage. What goes around, comes around.

I'll tell you who was there and extremely well received though, ANDY HARRIS. Way to go Andy!

What is the AMSA?

Assateague Mobile Sportfisherman Asso. The group was formed many years ago to keep striving to keep the beach open for everyone to use.

Jeremy Gordy was asked to leave and even though he said he would, he was later found still hanging around and a State Trooper had to enforce the rules and make him leave.

I thought leadership was one who leads by example. Not only did he go in there illegally, he was asked to leave and he didn't until he was finally forced to do so.

Typical of the Barrie Tilghman leadership in Salisbury. My guess is, the Fire Department will soon fall apart like everything else Tilghman has touched. This promotion was a very stupid move, you'll see.

I heard AMSA stands for
Assateague Marijuana Smokers Association.

ANON 10:31 am

AMSA is a great organization with a good cause. I'm proud to say I've been a member for 17 years. NO, I don't do drugs.

This young man has proven the stories about his behavior to be true. There is a definite pattern of poor behavior from what I am seeing. Can't the Fire Department do anything about this ?

anon 10:58,
You should try it sometime. Maybe you'd be a little less uptight and defensive.

amsa is now nothing more than a joke, a symbol, a strawman....if the founders new what you all have let it become, they'd roll over in their graves. I used to be a member, I quit when NO ONE would stand up to keep the back road open for emergency's, where was amsa when they started closure for a bird nest years back? They close over half the beach for half the summer now! Look at how much they raised and donated to NPS and how does NPS show their appretiation? DOUBLE the cost of the bullpen permit!!! They didnt raise the cost for the others who crap and urinate in the sand dunes all day long, rip and rare down the beach, leave their trash and dig holes big enough to bury a truck in!!! Did AMSA raise hell? NOOOO, they dont want to make any waves.....90% of the members now are panzies and geeks...they couldnt save their sandles let-alone the beach!!

To ALL who think AMSA is a "joke, a straw man and full of pansies and geeks", you obviously have NO clue what you are talking about. If you care to see what AMSA is about, come to the meetings on the third Wednesday of the month and state your opinion. AMSA IS ABSOLUTELY working to keep the beach open. While I understand your frustration, times have changed and AMSA is working very hard for beach access. The closures that happened this year was mandatory by LAW. The raising of the fees were necessary for the NPS to keep the OSV zone open. AMSA has been fully aware of these actions BEFORE they happen and work VERY closely with the NPS to ensure people are aware of the changes well in advance so they can prepare for them. It is NOT a matter of fighting them, it is a matter of managing through them. ALL OSV permits were increased this year, even for those who “go crap and urinate in the dunes all day”! AMSA does NOT tolerate ANYONE leaving trash and tearing up the beach. We do EVERYTHING possible to prevent it. BUT when it does happen, AMSA does try to clean the beach and reports anyone who is not driving appropriately on the beach. WE are entering into a critical period where the new management plan that will direct how Assateague will be used for the next 15-20 years, AMSA in doing EVERYTHING we can to ensure the beach stays open to vehicles. If you are this passionate about the subject and write so many editorials that are not even correct, you should have some time to devote in keeping the beach open. Things have obviously changed since you were a member. I hope to see you stand up and help AMSA keep the beach open.

3:41....Thats what this assoc. was founded for, to unite and stand firm, you cant fight these issues with one or two.....but I gave them {NPS} my 2cents....matter a fact I gave'um both barrels, that was the first yr the current super. was here and he roust me every chance he gets, because unlike you mumbling in fear, myself and a cple others raised hell to their face, most members and officers at the time thought they could kiss-ass enough to get the crumbs that fell off the table. The dble fee increase was this yr dummy, I'm not finding fault, it shines! You keep doin your little dance and sing'n your little song......your complecency will allow more gov. control blow in before you know it.
Look at the internet survey the nps put out....it was a strawman, a distraction, how'd they come to the conclusion to dble the fee for bullpen users? But they built new parking lots and bath houses for day trippers! They dbled for the people who have way less impact than anyone who uses that beach, why? Because amsa is now a bunch of brown nosers and panzies!!! You could donate a million, wont make a diff....amsa is now a mere shadow of a threat.....that they will eliminate yr by yr....whats next a lotto to camp for 12 rigs for the summer? but they'll still let you have your shin-dig once a yr...for a FEE! I hope some of you atleast had the opertunity to plead for help to Harris if he was there.

the amsa web site hasnt been updated since spring, more time spent on preping for the party? Theres no mention off dble fees for bullpen users on your site...in-house info only? NOT, none of you had a clue it would dble. It didnt increase for day users...unless you're counting the $20. more to shat in the sand from 12-5am...."to keep the osv zone open"?
You mean to give the super another raise? Explain how it cost so much more now than in the past, which one of you has sent for the break down from the public info act? AMSA, aka BBA, was an association long before it was a national park.

Since when do you have to be a member to be in the bullpen, doesn't your Over Sand Permit give you permission to use the beach and the bullpen?

5:09pm....you dont have to be a member, but some think if your not driving a 100thou rig you dont have any business there when they are, as for gordy I could care less, its clear he has no right being in the fire dept, and if he's anything like his daddy....he aint worth a grunt an'a wease....

AMSA meets quarterly with the Park Service and I assure you that AMSA members knew of the fee increases and why they were increased via the quarterly newsletter and it WAS posted to the web. The web site is updated often with important information. The “party” is one event that was listed, but the IMPORTANT information is under legislative. You all go ahead and "get in their faces", it will do absolutely no good. Meanwhile we "shadows" will do what we need to do to keep the beach open. As far as the money they spend and the fees they charge, the parking lot you refer to is a capital project. You need to learn how federal budgeting works, before you start making comments as you do. It is sad you feel the way you do, because the organization has change greatly over the past 5 years. We work to keep the beach open to ALL, not just those with campers. As a matter of interest, the President doesn’t even own a camper, and I certainly do not own a truck or a camper that costs $40,000.
Mr. Harris was there as our guest and believes in what we do. If elected, he has agreed to help in anyway he can. As stated earlier, if you have this much passion, come change things.

AMSA has a weekend call camporee where a lot of the members go down to the beach and stay in a pre designated area that is for AMSA members only that pre register. The bull pen is open to all as long as you have the new bull pen pass.

Was Mr Gordy booted out of the bullpen or did he not qualify to be at the private event? He was entitled to stay in the bullpen, he just wasn't entitled to be at the legally permitted private function.
I thank everyone that supports the efforts of AMSA and you are welcome for removing anyone that was not entitled to be there.

Sorry...no clue here. WTF is the bullpen?

as for jeremy he was and might be a a pain in the a$$ to most. he has not done me wrong and i think he will make an ok truck LT. but he is young like some of the ninety day wonders and paper pushers that are in the department. if they are book smart and an a$$ kisser then they will get ahead. but when the ones with the knowledge of fighting fire and saving lives get pushed out because of all the regs. then who will take over?

What illiterate moron wrote this. The grammar is to good to be little Gordo's, but it sounds like his fluff about himself.
