WaWa in Delmar has the best gas price today. $3.90 per gallon this morning. Does anyone know of a better deal?

Valero in West Salisbury (off Nanticoke Road near Pemberton Elementary) is $3.85.

Valero on Pemberton Drive is $3.88 per gallon.

Yesterday I filled up at the Velero on Pemberton by the McDonald's and it was 3.889. I don't know if that price is still up today.

Thats the best price anywhere Joe!
I check www.gasbuddy.com before I leave the house and know where I'm going. All you need to do is type in a state or even a zip code and you can find the cheapest gas along the way.

WAWA is junk gas, a mixture of all gases into one, just like Sam's.

Dash-In, I believe is Exxon, every Thursday is 5 cents off per gallon, including diesel fuel. Today, their regular gas was 3.89. If it doesn't change today, it will be 3.84

You can check them all out here. Just put in your zip.

The Wawa, Shell and Exxon in Delmar are all $3.89. By the MD gas instead of Wawa-- it's a better grade.

Its all the same gas...Just a diffrent detergents added by the jobber. Watch the same truck leave, brand x and then deliver to brand Y

You can certainly see the age of the commenters here because back in the day many statements would be correct. Each delivery would be brought to these Stations with their brand on the trucks. Now you mainly see Eagle Transport delivering to almost every one of the Stations mentioned here. That being said, how about that price fixing???????

If anyone travels through Preston, the gas prices there seem to be the lowest. The Shore Stop is $3.85 and the market down from it (can't remember the name) is $3.84.

Gas Prices: Does anyone know of a better deal?

Yes. But I will not reveal that location in this forum.

Joe,

I will add to your remarks posted at 10:04 AM.

All of the motor fuel that is sold in and around Salisbury area (50 mile radius) come from the two fuel terminals on the Wicocomico River in Salisbury. The larger of the terminals belongs to Velero.

The small gas station retailer is getting hosed by the high gas prices.

There is only a .15 to .30 per gallon profit in selling gas.

Credit card processors still rip off merchants by charging a percentage of the sale price usually 2% to 3%

OK do the math is gas is $3.00 a gallon and the Ma & Pop retailer (like we used to have here in Pocomoke) lets you use your credit card.

3% of $3.00 is .09 (nine) cents
30 cents (maximum profit) minus .9 cents is .21 cents profit.

Not bad if you pump 30,000 gallons a week ($6,300) or month

$4.07 per gallon today's average price in Maryland (I paid $4.04 outside Ocean City today)

3% of $4.07 = .1221 cents per gallon to the credit card company
30 cents maximum profit
-.1221
.1779 (seventeen and seven tenths of a cent profit)
$5,337.00 Profit

$1,000 just went out the window

Now imagine you are one that makes only .15 (fifteen cents) profit per gallon.

What would YOU do if you had to give .12 of the .15 cents "profit" before rent, taxes, social security, matching witholding, FICA, power, insurance, inventory, upkeep, etc.

Who is going to be able to afford to sell you the precious petrol to take Junior 45 miles round trip to Soccer practice?

Folks get ready for a change in lifestyle.

The Merchant is Being ripped off too?

Credit card companies are now maneuvering where they are getting their fees and the consumer is paying more for their merchandise. Have you seen in the news where the gas stations are now giving discounts for people paying cash and charging more for credit cards? Want to know why? Well, credit card companies make offers to get consumers to apply for their cards. Like lower interest rates, rewards, frequent flyer miles, cash back…..etc….. But the merchant is paying the price. Every time you use your credit card the location that you use it at gets charged a processing fee (percentage of the sale from the credit card company.) But now, they have changed the way the fees are paid by the merchant.
If you swipe the card and it is a regular, no reward, no extra card the merchant is charged about 1.9% of the total sale. (Very few of these cards left in the world)
If it is a rewards card, frequent flyer, cash back, lower interest rate, the merchant is getting charged about 2.3% of the sale. (For every gallon of gas the merchant is charged an additional .10) Who do you think is paying for that.
If it is a commercial card and a customer is calling a payment in to a merchant and not swiping the card the merchant is getting charged about 3.1% of the sale.

So the credit card companies are making their money from the consumer and the merchant and the merchant has no other recourse but to raise his pricing to the consumer. Guess the consumer just can't win as well as the merchant. Put your foot down and save some money. Get rid of your credit cards.

You can only drive so far before you are wasting more gas to save only pennies on a fill up.
The oil companies want you to feel like your getting a bargain at $3.50 a gallon.
When your really taking a beating.
Greed has destroyed america, not oil shortage or demand.
I transported gasoline in the 1970 so called shortage and we transported more gasoline than we ever had before, and the companies charged more for it.

The Valero in Salisbury on Mt Hermon yesterday was 3.939. Now as far as the credit card issue. I always pay with my Visa Check card that the money comes directly from my checking account. So essentialy it is supposed to be like paying with cash or a check. I only pay for purchases, including my gas this way due to the fact I work in a bad neighborhood. Plus I see carrying cash as a safety hazard. If I have no cash there is no temptation for some one to rob me. If they want my purse than they can have it. I will just call and cancel all the cards. Thanks for your time.
