Yesterday's News Updated On High Speed Chase

Yesterday I received numerous telephone calls referencing the young man's death and what some are saying about what might have happened.

The rumors stated that the Officer used a pit maneuver just before the wreck. Another said the driver pulled over on 60 Foot Rd. to let out passengers. Another said the Officer rear ended the driver. It just went on and on.

I have placed a call into the Sheriffs Department and let me assure you right here and now, those rumors are not only completely wrong, they're hurting the Sheriffs Department and the Family of the deceased young man.

There was a call made out to be on the alert for a specific vehicle, a specific color driving at a high rate of speed, etc.

The Officer was sitting still when the vehicle sped past him at an extremely high rate of speed at night. The Officer realized this was more than likely the vehicle just announced over the radio. The Officer turned on his lights and started chasing the vehicle.

Mind You, the Officer was NEVER close enough to determine the exact make of the car, let alone a TAG #! The Officer continued his chase while the vehicle continued to pull away. To make a long story short, the Officer never saw the vehicle even wreck, therefore he was NEVER close enough to hit his rear end and or pull a pit maneuver.

So please, those of you spreading such rumors THINKING they know what happened, yet NONE of you were anywhere near, please stop this as it is not fair on the Police or the Family. I'm told the Family is completely satisfied with what happened and how it happened. The ONLY ones out there spreading such rumors are not helping anyone.

Just to add to Joe:
The Sheriff's Dept does not perform "P.I.T." manuevers. Stop the rumors, this is rediculous. I'm sorry for the family's loss of their son. Leave them to their grief.

So you tell all kinds of lies and make all kinds of wild assumptions about firefighters, but you tell people to withold judgement when dealing with your buddy's boys in the Sheriff's Dept. I SMELL A COVERUP BY SALISBURY NEWS!

The Sherriff's Dept. is racist. They regularly use the "#1" code word, which really means N****R!!!

I've allowed a few of these negative remarks but let me assure all of you, there has never been anything stated of such within the Sheriffs Department and it would appear the Fire Department is playing the bait and switch to take away from what is obvious there.

Any more of this will not be allowed without a name or evidence. You show evidence of such and I'll guarantee it will be posted. Till then, no more.

to whoever said it, learn your facts. P.I.T. manuevers are not legal in the state of maryland. officers are taught it in the academy but maryland considers it lethal force and we're not allowed to use it here. Stop applying an episode of cops you saw to this real life tragedy.
