The more traditional Sophia is the new top name for girls, while
Jacob is No. 1 for boys for the 13th straight year, according to the
list released Monday by the Social Security Administration.
Kardashian, the reality TV star, gave birth to Mason in December 2009
following a heavily publicized pregnancy. In 2010, Mason jumped from
No. 34 to No. 12. Last year, 19,396 baby boys were named Mason, an
increase of nearly 4,600, by far the biggest jump for any name.

25-Year Veteran Of The FBI Accused Of Trading Child Porn
CARMEL, Ind. – A Indiana man who spent 25 years with the FBI specializing in counterterrorism and bombing investigations has been charged with distributing and possessing child pornography, Fox 59 reports.
Authorities say 54-year-old Donald J. Sachtleben openly traded child porn using the e-mail address "pedodave69@yahoo.com."
Fox 59 reports in one instance, Sachtleben allegedly sent someone an e-mail containing nine images featuring child pornography and told the recipient, "I have even better ones if you'd like."

Police in Norfolk, Va., have arrested three more black teenagers in connection with a mob assault last month on two white reporters for the local newspaper, a case which has sparked national public outrage but little media attention.
Two 16-year-olds and one 13-year-old were taken into custody Saturday, each charged with two counts of simple assault by mob and one count of participation in a riot, both of which are misdemeanors.
It brings the total number of arrested suspects to four, since another 16-year-old was arrested May 3, charged with throwing a missile at a vehicle, a felony, as well as two counts of simple assault by mob, destruction of property and participation in a riot, all misdemeanors.

Spending is off the charts, we are in an un-named depression, with real unemployment at more than 20%, the deficit is pushing $16 trillion, there are a record number of people on food stamps, SSDI, Welfare, and every other entitlement program the democrats can think of. More people are sliding into poverty, and Obama and the criminals in Washington are taking away our freedom, if not our actual bodies, and we may never be heard from again. The progressives and Obama have used moral relativism to remove the concept of guilt and shame from our culture, except for those labeled racist; for which there is no bigger crime.
When Obama was elected, he had the potential, as the first black (well, 1/2 black) president, to improve race relations in this country. But, no, he instead has done what every other criminal politician of color has done, he’s played the race card hard and often, culminating with the Trayvon race-bating travesty. Obama, I believe, was trying to incite riots, the goal of a few black politicians, so as to get more funding, more entitlements, and more free shit for their constituents (as a bribe, to prevent further violence).
Having absolutely no accomplishments to run on, and the economy and jobs picture sinking into the abyss, Obama has decided to preach to his core constituency: Women, minorities, gays, and the FSA. If he can lock-up their votes, he knows he has the election won. So, instead of talking about the economy, or jobs, or corporations shipping jobs overseas, or the criminals on Wall Street, or his friends Jamie Dimon or Corzine, who steal (or lose) billions, Obama talks about the war on women, he stokes more racial hatred and anger, and he panders to gays and tries to get more and more people on Welfare, food stamps, and SSDI. His minions report statistics designed to make him look good that are more the BLS lies, lies, and more lies.
And so, Newsweek has labeled him “the gay president”. I always had a sneaky feeling he was gay. Mooshel and the kids are window dressing. Barry’s had many late night meetings with Barney Frank and his friends down at the bath house. The secret service has gotten so tired of hanging around flamers that they go nuts when presented with real women, working women, who can be purchased for a fun time (but you must pay your bill guys, it’s only fair).
You can expect the rhetoric and bullshit to get bigger, louder, and thicker daily up until the election. Don’t expect to hear anything about the $550 billion per year trade deficit (Obama is actually trying to increase “free trade” so we can continue to have open markets and get raped by cheap goods dumped here). Don’t expect to hear a word about the deficit, or the debt ceiling, which we are rapidly approaching AGAIN. Don’t expect to hear anything about the continued manipulation of the markets and economy by Bernake and the Fed. It's time to get rid of the parking meters in most areas. You wouldn't put them at the Zoo, would you???? The excuse would be, why would you punish those people visiting the Zoo. Well, why would you punish the people coming to visit our Downtown???

I think to myself, boy, I'd really like to try their food, maybe I'll stop in for lunch. After taking care of my business and staying longer than expected I walk down the Plaza and I start to panic thinking I may not have enough money in the meter. So instead of stopping and giving them business at the new Deli I instead head as quick as I can to my car to get the hell out of Salisbury before I get a ticket. She went on to say that the Mayor is driving people OUT of Salisbury as fast as they can.
Take the 2 hour parking lot building and MOVE it to the Court House parking lot! Why are we paying someone to sit from 8 am to 7 pm to collect 2 hour FREE parking tickets? No one heading into Court first thing in the morning is thinking about getting quarters before they go to Court. Its already a stressful enough day having to be there. So move the Booth to that parking lot instead and charge by the hour! Open up the 2 hour lot to FREE parking, period.

The key point is not that the bet went bad; it is that institutions playing a key role in the financial system have no business making such bets, least of all when those institutions are backed by taxpayer guarantees. It probably won't last; I expect Wall Street to be back to its usual arrogance within weeks if not days. This idea, in fact, hinges on regulation. Without regulation there is no apparent reason for government, nor the mercantilism that it gives rise to. Regulation – its timeliness and appropriateness – must be defended at all costs. And defend it Krugman does.
Banks are special, because the risks they take are borne, in large part, by taxpayers and the economy as a whole. And what JPMorgan has just demonstrated is that even supposedly smart bankers must be sharply limited in the kinds of risk they're allowed to take on.
Why, exactly, are banks special? Because history tells us that banking is and always has been subject to occasional destructive "panics," which can wreak havoc with the economy as a whole. Current right-wing mythology has it that bad banking is always the result of government intervention, whether from the Federal Reserve or meddling liberals in Congress. In fact, however, Gilded Age America — a land with minimal government and no Fed — was subject to panics roughly once every six years. And some of these panics inflicted major economic losses.

Shanie Shields Makes Yet Another Excellent Point Last Night
There came a point last night when the Council called for a recess. During that time Shanie Shields came over to a group of people in the audience and was discussing a topic I took to heart.They were discussing children in school and the fact that the PTA holds field trips sometimes costing upwards of $80.00 per child. She said, "who can afford that, not any of the kids I know".
Mind you, while I'm sure these trips are educational and all, I have to agree, how many families can afford such a trip these days.
I should also say, I agree with school uniforms, (so to speak) as ALL children are then equal. So I asked Shanie, what are you going to do about it. Last night she decided to start a group that protects the interest of those families and children that can't afford these expensive trips.
I have to agree with Shanie. It shouldn't be solely for the rich. The PTA should make sure that each and every child that WANTS to attend, can attend. ALL of the children can fund raise to help one and other. Its not like they do this several times a year, so it shouldn't be that difficult.
Let's go back to the days where when and if someone wants something, they actually EARN it. In some cases you might even look at it as simply contributing. As adults we should do things on our own to be self supportive. However, when it comes to children we should be doing everything we can to encourage fairness no matter what kind of background you come from.
The PTA should not discriminate against those who cannot afford. You Go, I Go. It's called brotherhood.

Last week I held a hearing to examine the various proposals that have been put forth both to mend and to end the Fed. The purpose was to spur a vigorous and long-lasting discussion about the Fed's problems, hopefully leading to concrete actions to rein in the Fed.
First, it is important to understand the Federal Reserve System. Some people claim it is a secret cabal of elite bankers, while others claim it is part of the federal government. In reality it is a bit of both. The Federal Reserve System is the collusion of big government and big business to profit at the expense of taxpayers. The Fed's bailout of large banks during the financial crisis propped up poorly-run corporations that should have gone under, giving them a market-distorting advantage that no business in the United States should receive. The recent news about JP Morgan is a case in point. JP Morgan, a recipient of $25 billion in bailout money, recently announced it lost another $2 billion. If a corporation shows itself to be a bottomless money pit of "errors, sloppiness and bad judgment," the Fed shouldn't have expected $25 billion in free money to change that or teach anyone a lesson in fiscal discipline. But it determined that this form of deliberate capital destruction was preferable to one business suffering bankruptcy. Clearly, some changes need to be made.
Several reforms for the Fed were discussed at the hearing. One was a call for the full employment mandate to be repealed, in order to allow the Fed to focus solely on stable prices.

Senate Gives First Approval To Income Tax Hike In Special Session
The Maryland Senate
tonight gave preliminary approval to a nearly $250-million tax package
that increases some income and tobacco taxes.
The vote came on the first day of a special session, and sets the proposal up for a final vote by the Senate Tuesday morning.
The House of Delegates is due to begin debate on the bill Tuesday afternoon, and take a final vote Wednesday ending the special session.
Senate President Mike Miller told colleagues that he "regrets" lawmakers having to return to Annapolis, but he notes that the legislature did not pass the tax bill by the time the regular session ended on April 9.

To protect Maryland’s Triple A bond rating, avoid devastating cuts to programs and services, and continue to place our State on a fiscally-responsible path, last week, Governor O’Malley called a Special Session of the Maryland General Assembly to complete work on the budget plan for FY2013.

President Of Wicomico County NAACP Pulls Race Card At City Council Meeting
It was very clear last night, the NAACP and Shanie Shields wanted it well known they weren't happy with the redistricting in Salisbury but to me it seemed even more obvious they really want more minorities on the Council instead.
Shanie wants the Mayor to have more power but even after all these years on Council she still doesn't get it. The Mayor is not the President of the United States and even the President has to deal with Congress.
America is set up to protect everyone, or it's supposed to be anyway. We may not be able to control many issues on a national level but come on, shouldn't we have at least some checks and balances on the local level?
The Mayor is administrative and the Council is legislative. The Mayor should have NO SAY in redistricting. It's a legislative action. Just because ONE person, (the Mayor) disagrees with something shouldn't give them the power to veto it.
I find it absolutely amazing to see the shoes on the other feet when it comes to 3 to 2 votes. While Shanie, Gary, Louise, Mike & Lynn enjoyed a majority Council for many years, now they are the minority and if you watched last nights meeting it was a group of children screaming and crying because they weren't getting their way.
Rather than rambling on and on about topics that have absolutely nothing to do with the subject at hand, act professional, stop being disrespectful, stop the personal attacks and IF you feel the majority of people agree with you on so many topics, PROVE it in the next election and STOP crying like babies.
Mary Ashonte was there last night for only ONE reason, with all due respect. It was to play the race card. That was very unfortunate.

The U.S. Postal Service said Monday its decision to halt the closing of more than 3,700 post offices includes roughly 600 urban and suburban postal branch offices and satellite stations.
The facilities in many cities serve as neighborhood post offices. The Postal Service announced last year that it was looking at closing up to 252 mail-processing centers and 3,700 post offices, many of them in rural areas, as part of a plan to save some $6.5 billion a year.
"I guess I would say I'm cautiously excited," said Thomasine Derricks, president of the American Postal Workers Union in Baltimore that represents more than 3,000 workers in Maryland. "We are still realy looking forward to Congress getting involved in the situation," she said.

NJ airport: Security Supervisor Used Dead Man's ID
A Nigerian man used the identity of the victim in an unsolved murder
to hide his status as an illegal immigrant while working undetected for
two decades as a security guard and then a security supervisor at one of

The arrest of Bimbo Olumuyiwa Oyewole came on the day a federal report found the Transportation Security Administration's handling of security breaches at the airport, Newark Liberty International, deficient. Newark has had a number of high-profile security beaches, the most notorious being the case of a Chinese graduate student who slipped past an exit checkpoint to say goodbye to his girlfriend in 2010, shutting down a terminal and causing huge delays affecting domestic and international traffic.
Oyewole, 54, worked at the airport, starting in 1992, under the name of Jerry Thomas, who was killed that year in New York City. He was arrested, after an anonymous tip, at his home in Elizabeth on Monday and faced charges including identity theft, authorities said. It wasn't immediately known how Thomas' personal information was acquired.

ACLU Questions School Cyberbullying Policy
DOVER, Del. — The American Civil Liberties Union is warning that the
Capital School District’s proposed cyber-bullying policy could be
unconstitutional.
The ACLU sent a letter to a lawyer for the school board Monday asserting that the policy would violate the First Amendment rights of students.
The ACLU says the policy uses an overly broad definition of cyber-bullying to include teasing, laughing at someone’s mistakes, using unwelcome nicknames, mimicking, name -calling and using offensive language.

Ron Paul Ends His Hunt for Votes
Mr. Paul said he will still try to win over delegates in states where the voting is done but where state conventions are still picking representatives to the Republican nominating convention in Tampa, Fla., in August. But the Texas congressman and three-time presidential hopeful said he’s done actively trying to win over voters themselves in the 11 primaries still ahead.
“Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted,” Mr. Paul said in a statement from his campaign. “Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have.”

It's About Time
Director Jeff Zients said the Office of Management and Budget is freezing the federal real-estate footprint, which means it is prohibiting agencies from buying or otherwise increasing their civilian properties except under certain conditions. OMB said agencies have saved $1.5 billion by selling, consolidating or canceling real estate projects and reducing maintenance and utility costs. It estimated that the government would save $3.5 billion in real estate costs by the end of the year. Also, it told agencies to use existing vehicles and not replace cars until they have been driven for at least three years or 60,000 miles.
Government Wants To Fly Unmanned Aircraft Over US
If the government wants to fly unmanned aircraft over the U.S., it better figure out a way to increase safety and prevent hijackings. Pilots, airlines and plane manufacturers have sent letters to the Federal Aviation Authority warning of the dangers of drones. Next Gov reported more than 200 groups answered the agency's call for comments. Among the concerns: Pilots said drones were 100 times more likely to have an accident than passenger planes. They said drones should have safeguards against potential hijacking and backups for GPS systems that failed. The FAA is establishing six test sites for drones this summer.

Date Set For A Public Airing Of The Secret Service Prostitution Scandal
A Senate committee has set the date for a public airing of the Secret Service prostitution scandal. Lawmakers said they expected Agency Director Mark Sullivan to testify on May 23. The Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee sent Sullivan a letter asking him to clarify the agency's rules on drinking alcohol, both on- and off-duty. The committee also wanted to know the agency's policies on paying for sex in countries where prostitution is legal. Since the scandal last month, Secret Service investigators have interviewed the prostitutes and other witnesses at the Colombian hotel.

The Pentagon is trying to figure out why it has taken eight years to find and end a military training course that preaches a war on Islam. About 800 mid-level officers have taken the class at Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Va. The material suggested that Muslims hate everything about the United States, and that the military might have to destroy the Islamic holy cities of Mecca and Medina. The course flies in the face of repeated Pentagon assertions that the U.S. is at war with Islamic extremists and not the religion itself. The Pentagon is trying to figure out who approved the course, which it suspended last month.

"I had a pediatrician tell me what she believes is the best way to remove a tick. This is great because it works in those places where it's sometimes difficult to get to with tweezers: between toes, in the middle of a head full of dark hair, etc.
"Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20); the tick will come out on its own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has worked every time I've used it (and that was frequently), and it's much less traumatic for the patient and easier for me.
"Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can't see that this would be damaging in any way. I even had my doctor's wife call me for advice because she had one stuck to her back and she couldn't reach it with tweezers. She used this method and immediately called me back to say, "It worked!"

In the film, he portrays an Army officer who loses both legs in Vietnam, a character that made Sinise something of a patron saint to real-life amputees. Israel Won’t Be at ‘Biggest Summit in NATO History’
NATO’s summit in Chicago this month – the first on U.S. soil in 13 years – will be the biggest in its history, with some 60 countries and organizations represented, but Israel will not be among them, the alliance has confirmed.
Turkey, NATO’s only Muslim member and a country whose government is openly hostile towards Israel, has vetoed Israel’s participation in other NATO activities, but both NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Obama administration officials insist that Israel was not blocked from the May 20-21 summit.
Sen. Rand Paul on Obama: 'What Version of the Bible is He Reading?'
Speaking Saturday night at an event sponsored by the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky expressed surprise that President Barack Obama would say that his support for same-sex marriage was rooted in the Bible.
"What version of the Bible is he reading?" Paul said.
"“The president recently weighed in on marriage," Paul told the crowd at the Point of Grace Church in Waukee, Iowa. "And, you know, he said his views were evolving on marriage. Call me cynical but I wasn’t sure that his views on marriage could get any gayer. Now it did kind of bother me, though, that he used the justification for it in a biblical reference. He said the biblical Golden Rule caused him to be for gay marriage.
Book: Obama Team Tried to Pay Rev. Wright $150K To Keep Quiet Until After 2008 Election
Rev. Jeremiah Wright said members of Barack Obama’s team tried to buy his silence until after the 2008 election, according to a new book.
“The Amateur,” author Edward Klein’s unauthorized biography of Obama, has been making waves with explosive claims that former President Bill Clinton called Obama an “amateur” and encouraged Hillary Clinton to quit her secretary of state post and run against him in 2012.
The New York Post on Sunday published a conversation between Wright and Klein, the latest tidbit to come from the book. In it, Wright said once his fiery sermons surfaced during the 2008 campaign, he received an email asking him not to preach until after November:
“Who sent the e-mail?” I asked Wright.
“It was from one of Barack’s closest friends.”
“He offered you money?”
“Not directly,” Wright said. “He sent the offer to one of the members of the church, who sent it to me.”
“How much money did he offer you?”
“One hundred and fifty thousand dollars,” Wright said.

When You Advertise With Salisbury News You Get A Packed House
Talk about a BLAST! I want to thank the huge volume of people who attended the Melson Tractor Pull event this past Saturday night.
We arrived right at 5 PM and as you can see from the pictures above, there wasn't just a line for people to get in, hundreds of people had already shown up and finding a parking space was not easy, especially as the evening went on.
As I stated earlier, we arrived at 5 PM and didn't leave until around midnight, it was that much fun. They had lawn mower pulling events for the kids, tractor pull events, truck pull events and mud races as well.
If you've never been, trust me, this is a fantastic time for the entire Family for only $5.00 a head. The event happens every 2nd weekend of the month. One thing is for sure, we'll be there next month too.
Newsweek: Obama ‘First Gay President’
The cover pictures Obama with a rainbow-colored halo over his head. The New Yorker's cover for this week, likewise, is an image of the White House, with the iconic columns on its South portico arranged in the colors of the rainbow — a prominent symbol for gay rights.
The Newsweek cover goes a step further by adding the religious symbol of a halo above Obama's head.
Obama said this week that he is personally comfortable with same-sex marriage — the first time a sitting president has taken that position.

In the United States, there are over 3,000 people serving life sentences without the possibility of parole for offenses committed when they were children. While the Supreme Court ruled in Graham v. Florida that it is “cruel and unusual” punishment to sentence children who commit nonhomicide offenses to life without parole — and this year may decide that the Constitution prohibits such a sentence for children 14 and under who commit homicide offenses — U.S. courts have thus-far rejected challenges to the practice of sentencing children to life without parole for homicide offenses. Today, the United States is the only country in the world that that allows child offenders to be locked away for life.
Having been unsuccessful in their efforts before U.S. courts, in 2006, Matthew and 31 other individuals serving life without parole sentences in Michigan for crimes committed when they were children sought to challenge their sentences under international human rights law. Earlier this month, we were pleased to learn that the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights announced that it will hear their case. This decision gives the commission the green light to consider whether the United States violated international human rights law — specifically its obligations under the American Declaration on the Rights and Duties of Man — by sentencing children to life without parole.
