Would You Believe.....Waterfalls In NYC?

This summer (until October 13) New York City is hosting an exciting art exhibit featuring four spectacular man-made waterfalls, 90 to 120 feet, in the East River along Manhattan Island. They are softly lit at night and available for everyone to see.

The falls were constructed using building elements that are ubiquitous throughout New York: scaffolding is the backbone of the structures, and pumps bring water from the East River to the top; the water then falls back into the river. Fish and aquatic life are protected by filtering the water through intake pools suspended in the river.

The New York City Waterfalls are visible by land and boat, and because of their proximity to one another, viewers can see multiple waterfalls from various vantage points in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Governors Island. Dedicated boat journeys to view the Waterfalls, organized by the Public Art Fund in partnership with Circle Line Downtown, leave from Pier 16 in Manhattan and provide up-close views of the installations. The Circle Line will provide free and discounted trips daily for the public. The free Governors Island Ferry, which runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the length of the project, and the Staten Island Ferry also provide views of the waterfalls at Governors Island and between Piers 4 and 5 in Brooklyn.

Another Circle Line cruise that affords views of the falls at dusk leaves from Pier 83 on the Hudson River, at 42nd Street. This 2 hour “Harbor Lights” cruise offers great views of Manhattan from both the Hudson and East Rivers and also goes by the Statue of Liberty. It runs through September 26. These photos were taken during that cruise.

That’s the Brooklyn Bridge above one of the falls in these pictures.

State Highway Adminstration is Full of It!!

In last Friday's Worcester County Times there is an article about the State Highway Administration making plans on putting in a traffic signal on Rt.113 at the new Worcester County Tech Center in Newark.
The county has spent millions on this Tech Center; Worcester County residents are excited to have it, and students are looking forward to attending classes within it's walls.
The article focused on Commissioner Virgil Shockely and his feelings on the matter and what he believed his constituents would think about it.
He like I am and many others in Worcester County are deeply concerned and confused on why and how the state can pay for a signaled intersection at the school yet not have a signal at the intersection at Rt113 and Rt12.
The Rt. 12 intersection has had numerous accidents over the years and 13 people have died while dodging traffic there.
Last year a Worcester County woman name Linda Vreehland, collected close to 1000 signatures on a petition to have a signal installed at the Rt.12, and submitted them to the SHA during a meeting where they told the public that a traffic light would be dangerous there, but instead we needed a clover leaf to eliminate the problems....but the cloverleaf will cost millions of dollars, and, they don't have it.
So, Worcester County cant' have what it wants, because they said it is not a good place to have a signal. In fact in a letter that I received from them last year when I responded to this issue I was told that a signal would actually cause more accidents, than it would prevent.
Now, we are being told that the Rt.12 intersection doesn't even compare in the amount of traffic that the new Tech Center will have and they could not justify it.
Yet the Tech Center is in the middle of the biggest curves in the road from both directions but a traffic signal there is somehow appropriate and won't cause more accidents.
They are saying of course it is because of the School Buses coming in and out of the property, and for safety reasons they must have it.
For those of you aren't familiar with the area; the entrance to the Landfill is directly next to entrance of the Tech Center and Donnie Drewyer of the SHA says that the planned intersection doesn't include this road as well. So now we will have school buses using an intersection and right next to it the trucks traveling in and out of the landfill all day will fend for themselves right next to the signal Needless to say this brings up more confusion, as well feelings that this is more poor planning coming to fruition.
The people of Worcester County want to cross Rt.12 safely with a traffic light no matter what the SHA says, and the people of Worcester County also want their children to be able to get to and from the new Tech Center in a safe manner.
It is not either or, it is when.

In order to successfully join the two ends of the county, physically, and financially, we must make a safe way of travel to and from the north to the south and we should not delay the matter any longer.

The Wicomico County Republican's Club

While their booth was manned the entire time I was at the Farm Show, the Democrats booth had absolutely no one there and Kratovil signs just leaning up against a table. Do they think they're a lock on the Eastern Shore?

Wicomico Farm Show Tractor Pull

There was a fantastic turn out for the Tractor Pull Friday night. Not only were there more Tractors then expected, the spectators overwhelmed this group as well.

Now I'm not into Farming but the word on the street is Congressional Candidate Andy Harris showed up on Saturday and spent time with everyone there. I hope the Posts we provided here helped get more people out to the Show and everyone enjoyed it.

Here We Go Again Daily Times!

Where the hell is my Sunday Paper? I called the DT and got their automated computer. They claim they're going to credit me but they also claimed there was an extremely high volume of calls right now, so I must not be alone.

At least I'll be comforted in knowing that within 15 minutes of me posting this, I'll get my paper special delivery. That is, if there's one to be gotten?

Hole in the Wall ??? Or the Head?

A photo still from Japanese game show,"Hole in the Wall"

I have just seen a promo ad on Fox for an upcoming game show titled "Hole in the Wall", which will actually be an American version of a popular Japanese game show of the same name that soared to popularity on YouTube as well as foreign television.
The premise is contestants must "contort" their bodies to fit thru a moving barrier wall( as seen in above photo) or be tossed into a pool. The actual shapes of the hole in each wall will change and get increasingly more difficult. Some have compared it to "human Tetris".Hmm...
What is next ?Live-action "Twister" games ?"Watching Paint Dry"? I enjoy reality/game shows as much as anyone, but some of them are downright ridiculous. Fox's "Moment of Truth" is like Jerry Springers show without the fights and cursing and with more attractive guests and do not even get me started on the music/dance/singing reality shows.I only watch the audition phase of American Idol to goof on the very BAD auditions( don't hate on me, we ALL know we do it!). I LOVE the better Fox reality shows, like the original reality show,"COPS"; and "Hells Kitchen" and as far as primetime goes, Fox has given us GREAT programs like "Americas Most Wanted","Prison Break","24" and "The Simpsons", just to name a few,but I get the feeling they are jumping the shark with "Hole in the Wall". It will attract a large audience but eventually they will run out of steam-I just do not think a show with nothing to offer but people jumping through walls in a horizontal limbo dance is going to keep the fleeting attention of primetime viewers.Only time will tell....A pilot will be filmed later this year to air on Fox.

Don't Tell Me Gordy Has Lines!

I have been challenged to go out and take a random photograph of a Gordy Tiger Mart and since I was heading into town not too long ago, (within the past hour or so) I took these photos. The first was at Nanticoke Road, (ONE VEHICLE) and then over by the Shorebirds on Rt. 50, TWO VEHICLES.

I proceeded over to the Farm Show where I spoke with an elderly gentleman working the Republican Club Booth and he told me he was sick and tired of buying gas at any of Gordy's Stations because he asked the manager numerous times if he could put a Andy Harris Sign up to be fair. The Manager gave this gentleman Gordy's telephone number and he said he called him 5 times and has NEVER received a call back after leaving messages.

This gentleman stated that he buys at least $200.00 a month worth of gas and he'll be damned if he'll ever shop there again. So don't tell me that by posting the information about the Kratovil Signs and then lower gas prices that people are lining up at Gordy Marts to buy their gas. The are around 6 to 8 cents higher than MOST gas stations around the City of Salisbury.

Because of their higher prices, they're losing business, period. The pictures don't lie and believe me when I tell you, I'm NOT waiting around to take pictures of a Gordy Mart. It is what it is, DEAL WITH IT. Then put up Harris Signs or continue to lose business. That's their choice. The funny part to me is, Gordy doesn't believe this Blog is as powerful as it truly is. Very dumb move, very dumb decision.

By the way, Sam's Club is now $3.49 a gallon and Gordy is $3.59 a gallon.

One Year Ago On Friday

It seems the Governor of Maryland likes to come to Salisbury on August 15th because he was out here exactly on that date visiting the Honorable Cannon Family at their home last year on Riverside Drive. You remember, the Governor stopped his Press Conference and said, Joe, did I just read you were the #1 Blogger in the State of Maryland? Then he congratulated me and I immediately said, can I ask you a question on that note? He replied, sure. I said, you've got Washington, Baltimore and Annapolis and here you are on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, all of the major politics are going on West of Salisbury, does that tell you what's going on here on the Eastern Shore? He replied, I go to your Blog every day Joe, especially when I want to know what's going on here on the Eastern Shore.

Well, it's a year later Michael and guess what, I'm still the #1 Blogger in the State of Maryland. Governor, call me because we seriously need to talk!

Shanie Responds To A Concerned Citizen About Recent Crime

I emailed the City Council about my concerns regarding increased Salisbury crime (the lady who spoke about her home invasion is a friend of mine).

This is Shanie's absurd response.

"Of course there is crime in Salisbury. If it wasn't we would not need law enforcement. I still do not believe our crime is as high as Baltimore's. People can do anything they want with numbers. A few days ago a lady in Baltimore ask a person who lived on her street if he would move his car up a little so she could get out of her car. He got out of his car shoved her. When her husband came out to see what was happening, the man shot him twice and killed him. This incident is like an ever day occurance. We do not have murder every day of the week like Philadelphia. How often does a bank get robbed. How often is a child kidnapped or murdered.

My son in 1992 was murdered a block from where I was born. I believe that our Police Department, Sheriff's Department and State police are doing a great job. As our city and county population increases we may see an increase in crime but the stats are on the Salisbury Police Website. Shoplifting is one of the crimes that has been increasing due to more stores being open.

One thing that is missing is respect for older people and people in general. Young people today do not respect authority or even their parents. When I was coming up I feared the police, my pastor and teachers not today.

Shane"

Ray Lewis, Still Running Things?

While A.S.A.P. & Ray Lewis continue to advertise, I just can't see who in Wicomico County would be willing to do business with that company.

Then again, look how many Idiots voted Gary Comegys back into Office as well as Barrie Tilghman! I guess people here are as stupid as the people who voted Marion Barry back into office in Washington, D.C.

I can tell you this. You would NEVER catch me doing business with that company. Use your cell phones Folks. I'd like to see these vehicles parked in front of some one's home or business, wouldn't you?

State Grabs Home Over Unpaid Parking Ticket!

New York Renovator
August 4, 2008

Surprised? It’s happening again. A Milwaukee man is facing foreclosure on his $245,000 home because he wouldn’t pay a $50 parking ticket in 2004. In what city officials believe is the first case of its kind, the city foreclosed on Tubic’s house on W. Verona Court after repeated attempts to collect the fine - which over the years had escalated to $2,600 - had failed.

“Our goal isn’t to acquire parcels,” said Jim Klajbor, special deputy city treasurer. “Our goal is to just collect taxes. . . . It is only as a last resort that we would pursue . . . foreclosure.”

I’m sorry Mr. Special Deputy City Treasurer. That might not be your INTENTION, but it certainly was your GOAL, because you DID IT. OK, so the homeowner, a Mr. Tubic, has not paid his parking ticket. How did he get that parking ticket, anyway?

Tubic first got the fine for parking his Ford E150 with no license plates in the driveway of the home, which belonged to his parents at the time. The radiator had broken and Tubic couldn’t get his plates renewed unless the van passed an emissions test. He didn’t have the money to make the repair and had more pressing worries, he said.

His father was suffering from dementia. His mother was battling cancer, and he was their live-in caretaker. He needed to shop, cook, clean, maintain the house and tend to his parents’ needs.

The van repair could wait, he thought.

Then a man from the city showed up and told him otherwise. It was February 2004. Tubic would have to move the van or get license plates for it within 30 days, per city zoning codes, the man said. Somebody had complained.

His van was without license plates and was parked in his driveway?! That’s it?! Where else is he going to park his own van until he fixes it? The city park? So now it’s illegal to park your own vehicle on your own property unless your vehicle meets government “emissions” guidelines and is registered by the government?? Argh!

Tubic is a 62-year old disabled man, on Social Security and “has been diagnosed with psychological disorders that limit his ‘ability to understand, remember and carry out detailed instructions,’ according to documents from the administration.” He has degenerative diseases of the knees and spine, and other ailments. The guy is in poor shape and is an emotional disaster. The poor guy! I really have compassion in him.

HOWEVER– even if the guy was a 250-pound, muscular and wealthy socialite with a Hitler-like moustache, NO ONE’S HOME SHOULD EVER BE CONFISCATED LIKE THIS! It makes me so angry! I don’t want to rehash all the other posts I’ve written about this subject– you can read more about it on my post, How To Create a Serfdom, which is exactly what the government and their fascist corporations are doing to us. These tyrants are just DROOLING, waiting for the moment when they can seize our properties, aren’t they?? Couldn’t they have taken the guy’s CAR, since it was a parking ticket? Couldn’t they have revoked his license, or something? P.S. Tubic did continue to pay his property taxes.

Just remember what Thomas Jefferson said would happen to us if we continue to allow these bullies to keep this up: “If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.” Thomas Jefferson

Maryland Politics Today

Mr. Kenny Burns from the Maryland Politics Blog, also a Co Writer for Salisbury News came to visit the new Salisbury News Building Friday. I was also able to arrange a special walk through for him at WBOC's new Studio Facility. Kenny said he's put together a Post explaining the more technical side of what he saw as he's in the business and knows it well.

Thanks for coming by Kenny. As always, it's great to see you one on one and as you saw, there's an Office here for you any time you'd like. Kenny resides in Laurel, Maryland and was a Guest Speaker at the MACO Conference in Ocean City. He was asked to speak on behalf of Maryland Bloggers and what I believe they called the New Media.

What Do You Remember About August 15th

Hope this makes you smile.

It is 100% real. The chunk of grass was gotten by Dorothy Sexton who "jumped
the fence" and actually got close to the boys in the band. She wasn't sure but
her thought that Ringo or John walked on it.

Wicomico Farm & Home Show

Ladies & Gentlemen, if you're looking for something fun to do this weekend, go to the Farm & Home Show at the Winterplace Park.

This is their 72nd year putting on this Show and there's plenty to do, especially for the kids. They have animals you can see up close, food, music and all sorts of other activities.

What I found most interesting is this. Somerset County, Worcester County and Pocomoke completely support their Farm Shows. Wicomico County actually charges these people $2,135.00 to rent the space for this event. I mean, come on now! The County Executives Office said, No one remembers a time when the county has contributed $ to the F & H Show. They go on to say, The F & H show is run under the auspices of the County Extension Agent which comes under the Dept. of Ag.

I think it's high time that Wicomico County do something to work with the people who made this County what it is today! Forgetting where you came from because of progress is pretty messed up. You wouldn't have progress without these Farmers either.

Getting back to the good stuff. Tonight there's an antique tractor pull at 6:30. Live music at 7:00 and the show closes at 9:00 Pm. However, tomorrow brings on a ton of great stuff. There's a Horse Show at 8:00 AM tomorrow. A Car Show at 10:00. If you want to be IN the Car Show you need to register at 9:30. The Lone Ranger of Delmarva will be there at 10:00. Jousting from 12:00 to 2:00. A Model Horse Show from 12:00 to 3:00. From 1 to 4 "Moonstruck Duo" strolling minstrels. At 4:30 there's a Fashion Show. At 2:00 there's a Watermelon slices & seed spitting contest! At 4:00 there's some sort of 4H Olympics. At 5:00 there's a benefit auction, I believe done by Marshall Auctions. At 7:30 they'll have their award presentation and the show closes at 8:30 PM.

Pop in tonight and see this event. I went last night and it really is a lot to see and enjoy. The call your County Executive and County Council and tell them to pony up the $2,135.00 it cost these guys to put off this show.

Governor O'Malley Visits James M. Bennett High School

This morning Governor O'Malley came to Salisbury this morning to visit the new construction going on for the new Bennett High School.

He was joined by County Executive Rick Pollitt, Norm Conway, Jim Mathias and County Council Members.

"Protecting our investment in public education and school construction is critical to providing Maryland's students with the best education and the best equipment," said O'Malley. "The new construction of James M. Bennett High School will help address the growing student population, while also minimally impacting the environment with sustainable design features."

"I am delighted that Governor O'Malley took the time to visit the site of our newest and most ambitious school construction project," said County Executive Rick Pollitt. "Our community will be stronger for his efforts."

There are 1,400 students in grades nine through twelve. Construction began in June of 2008 and is scheduled to be complete in September of 2011. Mr. Pollitt also expanded by stating the new school will provide air conditioning, Energy Star Roofing and around 600 wells for a geothermal heating and colling system, and ultra-low flow plumbing.

I know, how do you do it all Joe. LOL

Extreme Makeover: Kratovil Edition

Kratovil will do or say anything to get elected

Annapolis - In his first television ad, Frank Kratovil has had an extreme makeover showing he will do or say anything to get elected.

"Either Kratovil has a short-term memory, or he is intentionally misleading the voters in the first district." said Campaign Manager Chris Meekins. "The reason Kratovil is trying to have an extreme makeover in his first ad is because he knows voters in the first district won't embrace his radical liberal Washington agenda."

Kratovil makes numerous misleading statements in his first campaign ad. See examples below:

Wasteful Spending
Claim:
"decrease wasteful spending"

Fact: In an interview with WYPR, Kratovil stated he supports earmarks. Earmarks lead to billions of dollars in wasteful spending like the "Bridge to Nowhere" in Alaska, and to corruption in government. (Source: Transcript of Kratovil Interview on WYPR in Salisbury on 6/13/2008)

Illegal Immigration
Claim:
"Crack down on illegal immigration"

Fact: At a debate in January, Kratovil stated he would have supported the "Amnesty" bill before Congress last year. Supporting Amnesty is not cracking down on illegal immigration. (Source: Star Democrat 1/13/2008)

Energy
Claim:
"Decrease our dependence on Middle East Oil"

Fact: By refusing to support off-shore drilling, the United States economy will not be able to stop buying oil from the Middle East. Expanding domestic oil production is necessary to decreasing our dependence on foreign oil. (Source: Transcript of Kratovil Interview on WYPR in Salisbury on 6/13/2008)

Representation
Claim:
"Independent. On Our Side"

Fact: Frank Kratovil has registered as a Democrat for Congress not as an independent. He has stated, "I want to be an ally of the Governor (Martin O'Malley) in Washington." Being an ally does not mean you are independent, it means Kratovil wants to go to Washington to be on Martin O'Malley's side, not ours. (Source: Maryland State Board of Elections and the Star Democrat 6/5/2007)

Lead Based Paint Goes Directly Into The Wicomico River?

Joe,

I was driving down Rt.13 north last night right at dusk. Between College Avenue and Carroll Street the paint had been removed from all the fire hydrants. I’m assuming they’re about to be re-painted. No big deal right? Wrong! The paint was stripped off and all the chips were left in the gutter. I have two questions. Do the gutters and storm drains lead to the Wicomico River? Secondly… Is the paint used on the fire hydrants non-toxic? I can’t imagine all the paint chips that will end up in the river will be beneficial to the life in the water that’s already struggling to survive in human waste. I only regret that I my cell phone was dead and I couldn’t take a picture. By the time I went home and got my camera it was raining. Keep your eyes open as I’m sure this is an on-going project and they’ll do it again.

Dear Mrs. Comegys II?

"Joe,
you are a pathetic excuse for a human at best. If you were the father of a child who the mother would not let you see your child..WOULD YOU PAY CHILD SUPPORT? HELL NO!! Did you bother to ask Gary what the circumstances were before you post this dumb shit on your worthless..half of the truth blog? HELL NO!! Many men do this so that they will be taken to court in hopes of seeing their child. Also in the mean time the mother tells the child how horrible the father is for not giving her a dime and he does not support them. Well Joe..if you do not know that part of supporting them is helping to raise them and having quality time with them as well in which many times Gary was not afforded that opportunity. Maybe that is why the CHILD was in trouble to start with. Now explain what your daughter/stepdaughter has done to be awarded MOTHER OF THE YEAR asshole! Let us talk about your skeleton bones now..We would all love to hear about that. I heard she was acrack whore! Does she pay you any child support?"

I'll start with this. I am extremely familiar with the troubles of NOT being able to see my own children for the 15 years I paid $2,759.58 a MONTH for my children. That's right, I paid that amount per month for that long. My ex wife NEVER had to wait at the mailbox looking for her monthly check!

So don't go preaching to me about the why's! I don't give a rats a$$ what excuse you want to represent, those children HAD TO EAT EVERY MONTH! You fight your battle in Court and you do NOT make everyone else suffer along the way. That's just my opinion and I believe I handled my child support like an honorable and responsible man/father.

Oh, my ex played the old, your Father is a piece of sh!t for all these years as well but my children grew up and fully 100% respect me while one of them hasn't spoken to their Mother for 2 years now because of it. Oh, I'll add, I encourage my Son to please talk to her each and every time I talk to him. I hold no hatred towards my ex and as they say, "the best revenge is to live a good life." I have done just that and she no longer had access to the checkbook.

I'll say this for the very last time too. I do NOT have a step daughter or a daughter, period. So obviously the information you are receiving has NO CREDIBILITY whatsoever, especially if you can't even get that part right.

I don't care what YOU and or Gary Comegys thinks about this factual information I posted earlier. I am 100% right and ANY Judge would agree with me 100%. You have a child, you are responsible for that child, no matter if the mother allows you to see them or not. One day that child will grow up enough to find the real truth and that is life.

So take your "half of the truth" and shove it. I firmly disagree with you and any of your remarks. The TRUTH is, he failed to be a responsible Father and I'll add, he declared bankruptcy as well, proving he's not a very responsible individual and shame on the Taxpayers for voting him into Office, period.

I'll not even go into your trash mouth other than to say, you must be really close with the Mayor.

Dr. Nolte Provides A Valuable Service To This Town

"I personally thank all of you for probably running the only affordable veterinary option out of town. Thank you so much!

Dr. Nolte provides a service to this town and that's an affordable solution to the outrageous prices the other vet's in town charge. That's his niche and that's what he does. I'm sorry if you didn't do your research first and took your dog/cat to Nolte for a major operation. If you did that and something went wrong, don't blame anybody but yourself. All you had to do was simply ask around town and you would have found out very quickly what Nolte is good for and what he's not.

What he is good for is if you already have an idea what's wrong with your pet and you need some medicine for it (ear infection, etc). Or if you need to get rabies shots or any other frequent shots/medicine. He's good for yearly check-ups and good for minor injuries.

What he's not good for (and I thought this was very well known) is essentially anything major. Major injuries/breaks, large open wounds, major operations, things like that.

I have two cats and two dogs and I honestly don't know if I'll be able to afford them if I'm forced to go to any of the other vets in town as they are all grossly overpriced. Now, imagine all the other people in my same boat. Low-income families, elderly pet owners, families with many pets, etc... Think of all the people who will now have trouble affording vet care. Thank of all the animals who will now probably go untreated.

Thanks SO much for "exposing" him (when anybody with a right mind already knew this about him for years in the first place) and probably running him out of town. Are you going to help pay for me to take my animals to one of the other vets now?"

Well, Sir:

Allow me to start by saying, how come the President of the Zoo Commission wasn't aware of this? How come Jim Rapp AND Joel Hamilton were never made aware of this? How come the the Director of Public works Jim Caldwell or even Mayor Barrie Tilghman wasn't aware of this? Or perhaps I'm wrong? Perhaps they did know about this. That Housewife thing comes to mind when I think about this, (no disrespect to Housewives).

Sir, does it say that in his Yellow Page Ad? I only do shots and minor stuff with animals, please don't bring an injured animal into my Office because that's not what I'm good at.

While my Wife and I have been fighting for many years referencing the welfare of the animals at the Salisbury Zoo and the extremely poor management and leadership in the past there, what choice have the animals had?

All of a sudden people are hearing about HOUSEHOLD PETS and again, they're forgetting about the Zoo Animals. These animals are CAGED and on display for your entertainment, yet they get the worst care of any animal I've ever heard of.

Get ready Folks because I'm about to go off! Let's look at what you have with this Dr. Nolte and the protocol of the Salisbury Zoo. You see, that piece of sh!t Ron Alessi insists, wait a minute, let's even go so far as DEMANDS that the Salisbury Zoo WILL take in injured animals, period!

Why do YOU think this is the case Ladies & Gentlemen? Because IF they do so, the AZA demands that they build a $2,000,000.00 new Animal Services Building to care for those animals. HOWEVER, what you don't know is, Dr. Nolte only visits the Zoo 2 hours every other week. So let's say he comes in on Wednesday at noon. If he leaves at 2:00, they won't see him again for two weeks. At 4:00 PM an injured animal comes into the Zoo from DNR. Yep, it sits there for weeks waiting for Nolte to come back and more than likely dies.

So these animals are caged up, sick, in desperate need of full time attention and because they're FREE the Zoo thinks it's a great idea to collect them. However, if it's a song bird or a baby squirrel they simply snap its neck and kill it because they're not going to waste their time trying to rehab one of these animals.

Getting back to the point, you suckers are being drawn into a multi million dollar building simply because the AZA and Ron Alessi want it. Is it necessary? Hell No! Maybe that's the building that will house Mayor Barrie Tilghman's name on it, or perhaps Ron Alessi's name? No matter what, you're being suckered into something the Zoo does not need.

In the mean time, the animals suffer at the Zoo and the taxpayers get screwed along the way. Now Joe, if you think I'm to blame for Dr. Nolte running out of Town, well, he's the one running then, not me. I'm standing up for the animals, NOT THE ZOO STAFF, NOT THE MAYOR AND CERTAINLY NOT THE ZOO COMMISSION.

For what it's worth, I love taking shots like this one. It stores a piece of history and shows what time does to any thing and anyone. Now if they had built this on the Moon with no gravity, it would probably last forever?

Nonetheless, there are all sorts of buildings like this on the Eastern Shore. Do you have one/some you'd like to share? If so, send it to alberobutzo@wmconnect.com

Recent Raise Of BC/BS Rates For County Employees

Why has the county raised the cost of health insurance for county employees? BC/BS has not increased the rate for county employees, but the county has raised what an employee must pay for insurance. Is this another way for the county to save money at the expense of their employees? This very question has been asked of County Exec. Rick Pollitt with no response. Human Resources only response was that their costs have increased which is not true. Please someone enlighten me.
