Recent Raise Of BC/BS Rates For County Employees

Why has the county raised the cost of health insurance for county employees? BC/BS has not increased the rate for county employees, but the county has raised what an employee must pay for insurance. Is this another way for the county to save money at the expense of their employees? This very question has been asked of County Exec. Rick Pollitt with no response. Human Resources only response was that their costs have increased which is not true. Please someone enlighten me.

Health Care Carriers continue to raise rates, quarter after quarter and year after year. Where is your proof that BCBS did not raise the rates? With that said, it is prudent for any business owner to ask their employees to participate in the rise in cost. The more we as consumers "feel" the rise in cost, the more likely we are to take an active role in shopping for the best health care service at the best price.

Wait till next year when BC/BS raises their premium 20% and they'll get phukd again! (Joe, you may edit if you like)

We have BC/BS and our premiums were increased 17% this month. Gotta keep those pharmaceutical companies happy.

Good luck..Mike Thompson, Pat Peterson and Ted Shea will all give you an explenation that will not truly define why? The contract is determined by employee usage through an annual valuation. Can you find the individual results in any council minutes? Welcome to the Wicomico County Government

Did anyone know that the Bd. of Ed. offered that 10% raise for up to three years for people retiring again this year? I heard nothing about it and so I thought they would pay the 10% for the next two years to those who had already signed up and be done with it. That was until I overheard a teacher say she hadn't signed up for the ENP last year but did sign up for three years when it was offered again this past spring. This is in addition to the 3% for all county folks. Now a whole new group will get 10% for three years plus the ones who have one or two years left on the first ENP signup. Where is the Bd. getting this money??????? Didn't we hear how tight money was going to be?

Don't forget the pay for perfomance bonus that the Board of Ed hands out. What a crock!
The supervisors determine the chosen few who get it year after year! Where does that money come from?

WE heard because they were preparing us to take some more of it from us. THEY typically don't concern themselves much with OUR situations. Taxes, whether well-spent or squandered, are mandatory, and as an individual tax payer I have NO say whatsover in how they're spent.
Welcome to a democracy.
