ANNAPOLIS, Md. — At 2 a.m. Sunday, hundreds of millions of Americans will “spring forward” one hour in the annual observance of Daylight Saving Time — gaining an hour of sunlight but losing an hour of sleep.
Some Maryland lawmakers are aiming to change that.
Whether it’s gaining an hour or losing an hour, the time change can be disruptive.
In the fall, the days feel shorter, sometimes leaving people to start and end their day in darkness. In the spring, when Daylight Saving Time begins with losing an hour, changes to sleep schedules can impact people in a variety of ways.

The problem with lawmakers is that sometime they think they need to do something when they don't.
Good idea I hate when it gets dark early
Boing! And so it shall be that sunrise shall be seen in the early hours of the day shift forever, while second and third sifts shall work mostly in darkness.
I'm all for it.
I don't care if we go to DST permanently of stay off of DST permanently,
But moving clocks forward and back is stupid!
If the bill passes it will get dark earlier.
More darkness, more crime. Not a great idea.
It absolutely makes no sense unless all the other states in our time zone do the same. Can you imagine it being 12:00 in Delmar Maryland but 11:00 in Delmar Delaware?
Agreed, pick a freaking time and stick with it.
731 comment....this is why we should do away with time clocks
vote for Bernie Sandars, and let's all get high and live in peace....
no time clocks needed....
let's only party and have fun...
the billionaires will take care of us
Why do they need to make a law though? Is there not anything more important like I don't know for starters making out second amendment rights a little easier so we don't have the high crime rate anymore, offering reciprocity for other states ccw licence's. As it stands now Maryland recognizes only one states ccw licence and that's Maryland. On vacation or business from Pennsylvania sorry leave you're gun at the MD border. It's all a money game. Fact MD is the only state that doesn't offer reciprocity yet they want to make laws about time and light, only because they haven't figured out yet how to tax that. Maybe they tax you if you don't recognize their time and don't permanently to forward an hour
No, it won't. If sunset is 6pm now, it will be 7pm during DST.
The time on the clock has no relevance on the amount of sunlight/darkness.
Isn't this the wrong page for crackheads? Put down the crackpipe, mambun
With democraps, everything has to change?????
The name is: Daylight Savings Time
Why would there be more darkness?
How will the government make it darker?
439 am nailed it. Change is not needed. There are so many other issued that need attention.
4:38 am. It is a confusing article, but I read the whole article and I think they are talking about changing it to EST. But I may be wrong.
Why in the world must we go through this same argument twice a year? Get over it. Make it permanent, and people will still complain...even louder! Just leave it be and relax.
Yeah it is confusing because there's no such thing as Eastern Daylight Time. It's either Daylight Savings Time or Eastern Standard Time.
If it gets darker earlier 4:39, then there is an impact.
Set your alarm clock back Saturday evening and go to bed at your regular "time" if you're worried about "losing" an hours sleep. All you'll be doing is going to bed an hour early. No sleep lost. See, I solved it for you. Some people like to complain about nothing.
I agree with 2:05. Why fix something that ain't broke? Corndogs feel like they have to change everything. Don't they have anything important to work on?
