It's a construction zone. How stupid to even try and ride a bike through there!
Sidewalks aren't for bikes.
Not to mention that after the injury happened, the hazard was immediately addressed... so... are you complaining that the hole was filled in? What are you getting at?
8:35- Maybe so, but pedestrian and motor vehicles are supposed to be notified of Bumps, rough pavement, uneven pavements, gaps in paving, etc.
Wow, the one bike rider in Downtown Salisbury, and Jake done killed her!
They should have had it blocked off or covered up. Big time lawsuit with an easy win.
No helmet, I bet either.
Should have been riding on Waverly Dr where the POS Day built a bike path for them and sqeezeds a dangerous path for traffic
Irony in little Jake's sandbox.
I destroyed my bike once just like this.
I flipped my bike and destroyed the rim of my front tire.
It was at night, I was off work and riding home.
Luckily all I got was a skinned knee.
I didn't sue the city, It was my fault for not paying attention.
I feel bad for the bicyclist, but like me, he should have been paying attention to his surroundings.
Interesting the biker chose to ride on the sidewalk, which is illegal, instead of the new traffic lane that doesn't have any vehicles on it because it isn't open yet. Meanwhile on Waverly Drive I still rarely see any bikers using the bike lanes, but I do see plenty of locals riding bikes down the middle of the road, against the flow of vehicular traffic (illegal), and on the sidewalks (illegal). Also, cyclists are required to have lights on their bike when riding in the dark. It's just a matter of time before a vehicle making a right onto Waverly from one of the intersecting roads coming from Rt. 13 stops at a stop sign to yield to traffic on Waverly, but doesn't seeing a cyclist with no illumination riding south bound in the northbound lane. Cyclists are by law required to ride in the same direction as vehicular traffic, not against it.
9:19 errmagerrrddd I can't drive my f250 across all lanes of the road grrrrrr. just shutup, it's a bike path man.
It's NOT a hazard. Go clean it up if you want to. Next rain, it's gone. And a "failed" roundabout??? What the hell?
Just another one of Jake and the Council's failures we stated all along these bike paths all over town are going to cause accidents. And the round abouts and Waverly Drive have been a disaster for PRMC employees. Wait till this summer I predict an avalanche of accidents, back ups and over all confusion. And just how many bikers do you actually see using them, close to none. Jake still hasn't reasoned in his pea size brain he is a failure.
bologna
Everyone should drive down Waverly Drive. That should make it clear that these "ideas" of Day's are a disaster. I try to avoid it, but when I do travel that way, I have NEVER seen a bike on that zebra path.
Talk about a BAD IDEA! What is really shocking is that Day seems to be able to do whatever he wants without any push back. What has happened to the men and women who sit on the various committees and think they are the "leaders"? Have they lost their minds, their backbones or both????? It is a sad day when integrity and good character are silenced.
Wear a helmet and as an astute writer mentioned - it is a sideWALK not a sideBIKE.
Best comment of the day 9:00, LOLOLOL!
9:00 LOL! You win the internet today!
She was probably on her phone
Yikes! That's some blood. Hope they are alright.
Is it possible they were on the road and lost control due to the rubble? The bike could easily have been put there to get it out of the way.
Neither are roads 8:52
Yes !!!
My F350 is licensed to drive across any and all lanes when safe to do so
Some bicyclist will be killed using the bicycle lane on Rt 50 in front of the post office. Wait and see, it's very confusing for drivers and dangerous for bicyclists.
People are correct in that bicycles are not supposed to be on sidewalks and are to be ridden on the side of the road. But hell, you take your life in your hands when you drive a vehicle on the road nowadays with bad drivers everywhere.
Not paying attention to what you are doing may also be a factor. Or maybe she was on the road when she spilled and then moved to the sidewalk? Are all ages supposed to wear a helmet? I'm not sure.
I don't see many bike riders myself if there were more I'm surprised more are not hurt the way bike lanes are designed.
I bet the bike was stolen anyways
4:46 remember to tell that to the police if you hit a bicyclist on the road and then notify me so I can visit you in jail.
Someone walking could have had the same thing happen.
Our sidewalks are safer than bike paths & I don't blame a biker for using them. Still, I don't approve. They need to start using the paths so drivers get used to them being there.
👍 got cha
Keep riding on the road thinking you protected by law and I will go to your funeral 5:24

what are you talking about?
Yeah all a setup.....he must be an idiot to try and ride through the construction.....hope he has a goose egg on his face as a reminder!!!
The sidewalk should have been closed to pedestrian and bicycle traffic period! It is the city's fault as well as the construction company! That is a simple safety standard, common sense but, unfortunately, you can't teach common sense. 8:35 are they suppose to just leave it open at night and we all know it is a construction zone so keep 500 yards away at all times till the city declares "all clear" ?
Obviously you have no idea of 500 yards 754
637
I carry a 357 when I ride my bycycle....
try hitting me key board tough guy
6:37 that is a stupid statement, nobody is protected by the law.
I bet the bike was stolen anyways

You can't steal a city provided bike. They are there for public use.

Your keyboard muscles are on steroids. Blast away!
March 4, 2020 at 9:45 PM:
Hard to pull your gun when you're laying in the ditch on the side of the road. I'll take "keyboard tough guy" over you, 2 to 1.
11:17 reread my post I said "thinking" not "are"
5:24 apparently "thinks" they are protected
Right on 4:37
so you are blaming salisbury and the contractor when we all know by cyclist are idiots!
7:25 you really don't make sense. What are you some liberal politician. Maybe Uncle Joe Biden.
Bicycle, Bicycle...I want to ride my Bicycle...
That right there is not blood in the picture. Dried blood is not bright red! More likely just spilled paint.
