On Friday, August 17, 2018, the Maryland State Police in conjunction with allied law enforcement agencies in Worcester County conducted a sobriety checkpoint at W/B US Rt. 50 and Silver Point Lane, Berlin, Worcester County. The checkpoint started at 2307 hours and ended on 8/18/18 at 0018 hours for a total of 1 hour and 11 minutes. There were 455 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint with three drivers being administered field sobriety testing, and one driver being placed under arrest for DUI.
At the conclusion of the checkpoint, a countywide saturation patrol was conducted. During the saturation patrol, four DUI arrests were made.
Publishers Notes: Trust me, this is Ocean City and not Berlin. I happen to live on Silver Point Lane.

A citizens patrol checking all the cops involved would have garnered more arrests for alcohol, drugs, speeding and other traffic violations among the mercenaries themselves. They are no better, that makes them no good because they are supposed to uphold the law. They are hypocrites of the lowest common human form. They target the people that pay them. Scum.

While I'm absolutely against drinking and driving, I'm not quite sure how I feel about 432 law-abiding Americans being subjected to what amounts to (basically) an unconstitutional search and seizure stop.

1. MADD has to pass some sort of law (usually lowering the "safe" blood alcohol level) EVERY year to remain relevant. They have to pass a new drinking and driving law. Mandatory in-car Breathalyzer is right around the corner.
2. If you are a politician, you want their money. AND if you don't vote for the new law, then you are branded for being "for" drunk driving.
