‘Well-Designed’ Employee Housing Project Eyed For Downtown Ocean City
OCEAN CITY — Resort planners this week approved a five-story mixed-use project on a prominent downtown street corner that could become the “poster child” for seasonal employee housing. The Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday approved the significant redevelopment of the existing Alibi Room property on the corner of Baltimore Avenue and Wicomico Street.

so who will occupy the building during the months that the seasonal employees are not living there?
They could rent them out during the off season
Lots of questions, very few answers.
What the hell is new with this???
This makes a ton of sense. Housing for seasonal employees has sucked for way too many years. They wonder why they can't get local or regional college kids anymore... because they pay out the butt for horrible living conditions and get mediocre wages.
if we didn't have a condo in OC, my kids could not afford to save any money during the summer.
This are for the foreigners
9:54 why does it matter? It's the owner's to do with it what they want in the off season. No it is not exclusively for foreigners. It is for the owner's employees.
They will live is space the size of a sheet of plywood.
4 x 10
Who will own this building OC? Will OC get a kickback? There is a secret (fishy) deal here since it would not be a profitable business. CS, common sense tells a business person that.
11:43 that's more than I had when I lived/worked in OC. At least it will be clean, have all working appliances/plumbing. My kids had similar conditions, too. You have no clue what the CURRENT living conditions are like for most college kids in OC. I would 't let my dog live in some of those places.
Walk a mile in their shoes first.

You are dumb. It's for J-1 foreign students, not college students who refused to work.
12:02 it owned by a restaurant owner. It's not a business. It is housing for the businesses employees. Quite a few businesses own apartment buildings and houses for employees to live in.
11:40 i didn't realize you knew everything about the situation. as a landlord who rents houses, i wouldn't want a house sitting for months with no one living in there. it opens the door for problems that aren't brought to the owners attention and they could become big problems, such as mold. i could literally care less, just posing the question. and i wouldn't think people would only want to rent an apartment during the winter months in a resort town.
I think a sheet of plywood is 4X8
Is there any architect out there that doesn't create this cookie cutter low cost housing design? It's like it comes out of a catalog.
Many of us have been suggesting this for decades, starting with housing for Ocean City's 100+ summer police officers, who need a reasonable rent and a place to live close to the job.
Having a house full of Summer Cops next door is terrible. They party like it's no tomorrow and when you call the cops to complain nothing ever happens. The Euros respect the police because where they are from if you cross the cops, you go missing.
Squatters
Big GIANT BINGO 605pm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately that makes way too much sense, hands wouldn't be greased and there is no value to it by most sitting in City FAIL!
