North Korea Says Sanctions Threaten Survival of Its Children

North Korea told a U.N. rights panel that international sanctions imposed on it over its nuclear and ballistic missile programs would endanger the survival of North Korean children.

Han Tae Song, Pyongyang's ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, was speaking at a hearing of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child late on Wednesday.

The panel of independent experts challenged North Korean officials over allegations of forced child labour, sexual abuse and trafficking in North Korea, Pyongyang's health and education budget, and Internet access for children.

I really think a nuclear war with the USA would threaten the survival of North Korean children far more than the sanctions ever will.

The cost of NK's nuclear weapons program directly takes from the welfare of its citizens, especially it's children. Their leader is demented.

Don't be fooled by the propaganda our government puts out on the little man from N. Korea. He is quite smart, and was educated in Western colleges. His goal is the reunification of Korea, and he is on a path to achieve that. He knows what he's doing, and and how to do it. And can someone tell me why we are willing to risk a nuclear war, with ANY country, over S. Korea? Little Mr. Kim knows that we're not. He will win the South without having to fire a nuclear weapon at anybody. We will soon see S. Korea learning to live under one flag. We have acted as their protective bully for too long. We have no national interest in protecting them from reunification.
