That the problems of today’s black Americans are a result of a legacy of slavery, racial discrimination and poverty has achieved an axiomatic status, thought to be self-evident and beyond question. This is what academics and the civil rights establishment have taught. But as with so much of what’s claimed by leftists, there is little evidence to support it.
The No. 1 problem among blacks is the effects stemming from a very weak family structure. Children from fatherless homes are likelier to drop out of high school, die by suicide, have behavioral disorders, join gangs, commit crimes and end up in prison. They are also likelier to live in poverty-stricken households. But is the weak black family a legacy of slavery? In 1960, just 22 percent of black children were raised in single-parent families. Fifty years later, more than 70 percent of black children were raised in single-parent families. Here’s my question: Was the increase in single-parent black families after 1960 a legacy of slavery, or might it be a legacy of the welfare state ushered in by the War on Poverty?
According to the 1938 Encyclopaedia of the Social Sciences, that year 11 percent of black children were born to unwed mothers. Today about 75 percent of black children are born to unwed mothers. Is that supposed to be a delayed response to the legacy of slavery? The bottom line is that the black family was stronger the first 100 years after slavery than during what will be the second 100 years.

Democrat policies have been killing the black family for many decades, It was a plan just look up LBJ's quotes . "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you." This is what is happening on college campus's today.

Paragraph 2, sentence 1 should be read, and re-read to all black leaders, churches, schools, and to every black person in America.
It is the single common denominator that shows a correlation to lack of success vs. those who come from 2 parent households.
It's not slavery or racism or confederate statues.... it all starts at home.
So, NAACP and all of your left-winged racism/hate mongers, start pointing the finger inward. That's where your problems start and end. The government has been trying to help you succeed for over 50 years now...it's time you try to help yourselves.
I suggest EVERYONE watch the movie "Hidden Numbers". A true story about the struggles of the blacks before segregation and the huge contribution they provided NASA in the space race in the early sixties. An amazing story few people even knew happened. One of the things I took away from the movie was the strength that the black community had and the family unity required to survive in those struggles. It will open your eyes to where we were and where we've gone.....some very good and some not.
It is the honest to God truth that the democrats have not ever been friends to the black communities and the truth is the democrats have done everything in their power to keep blacks herded and corrals in substandard neighborhoods with substandard schools. The democrats are the ones who are against school choice and charter schools even though they often choose what school their children attend. They want blacks stuck in unsafe poor performing schools to keep them from becoming smart. If more were to become truly educated they would be able to realize the evil ways of the democrats who don't even see them as humans only votes.

Blacks vote, just like everyone else, for whomever tells them they will be giving something to them.
Democrats have promised them free everything for decades. Free housing. Free electric. Free daycare. Free phones. Free doctors. Free education. Free lawyers. Free tax help.
SEVERAL GENERATIONS of many black families have NEVER worked. Their grandmother was on welfare (for 40 years). The mother has been on welfare for more than 25 years. The daughter has been on welfare sine she turned eighteen and her 4 kids will be on welfare when they get the chance.
I knew the head of (welfare) housing in a large county in Maryland. These are facts. If more people (taxpayers) KNEW how many people claim they can't find a job in 70 years of trying, and how many families have GENERATIONS of welfare behind them, there would be some lynching parties. If they knew how many of these same families are collecting welfare in two, three, and four different states, there would be a revolution. For sure.
The first to hang? Your "leaders", who put this scam together and soak WORKING Americans for the billions required to run it every year.
The next ones? People who say they haven't been able to find a job in 40 years.

Every group has struggled sometime in history. They over came and succeeded. Blacks are given EVERYTHING because of color. You can't deny. Besides, every show or movie about blacks . For Blacks make them look like heroes. Well buddy. THEIR not heroes in this day and age.
In my line of work its whites pacifying them and treating the kids and teens w/ white guilt. A set up of sorts.

As a black woman, as a social worker I cant say I know not 1 person in my family or no one my family associates w/ that lives this way on either of my parents side. As a social worker I know a few black and white and now Hispanic who live this way. Where do you live that you see a minor percent of blacks working? This was a insult. Usually poor whites inherit homes from their families and run them down. This is why the need for housing is less. Poor whites are usually for intelligent on how they work the system. Know how I how? I watch them everyday at work while my black tail assists them in working the system. It is definitely easier for them to work the system. Pisses me off as so w/ the black ones because instead of using it as a stepping stool they use it to live extravagantly. The only difference is whites go under the radar.

Too funny these comments. I was sitting in subrunners today and these two hill billy whites were conversing, a couple complaining because his mom was cooking liver tonight. The girlfriend loud talking about how his mom knows she dont like liver. Had to be in their 30s. Now I didnt hear one thing said about contributing. Thank God I got more sense to label all whites because I was exposed to the likes of them. Apparently she takes care of them. As soon as that gravy train ends they ll probaly inherit her house and use the system to sustain.
