Medical Marijuana Safe From DOJ Prosecution — For Now

Although Attorney General Jeff Sessions is not a fan of marijuana, federal law has prohibited the Justice Department from using any of the funding it receives from Congress to prosecute medical marijuana in any state where it’s legal. Thanks to a new omnibus spending bill that just passed the House and Senate, it’ll stay that way — at least for the moment.

In that case so fortunate that Maryland is well on the way to opening the LEGAL Cannabis industry. Until then just need to go to D.C. where you can acquire recreational weed legally!!

10:37 AM I am pretty sure you have to be a resident of DC in order to buy their stuff... Remember, if you got caught with it, they would say you are crossing state lines with and illegal substance, even though DC is in Maryland... Plus thanks to back stabbers who changed that law back, you will get hit with at a minimum of a paraphernalia charge, becasue the bag would be considered that and along with any other items you use to smoke it or carry it...

11:35 is right, sort of. You can go to DC and follow their rules, but take any over the state line into Maryland and what you're doing from that point on is illegal. To acquire (not by purchase, which is still illegal) and use in DC (not in public) is okay for anyone, not just residents.

Current DC legislation in place:

Under Initiative 71, an individual 21 or older can possess up to two ounces of marijuana for personal use and can grow no more than six cannabis plants with 3 or fewer being mature, within the person’s principal residence. The Initiative also allows an individual to transfer without payment (but not sell) up to one ounce of marijuana to another person 21 years of age or older. It also allows adults to use or sell drug paraphernalia related to the use, growing, or processing of marijuana or cannabis.
The Initiative provisions the use of marijuana on private property. However, it is still not allowed on public grounds or federal property. Public consumption is a civil penalty with a max fine of up to $100 and police are always on the look out to write people up for DU

DC's recreational marijuana law has dropped the crime rate and saved a lot of money for the district. Race bias in marijuana related arrests was always a complaint by the Left. Now there's less to complain about.

Right!! Need to stay within D.C. and not the Federal parts..and be over 21. Of course I would never do this... but IF you cross into Maryland and IF you are stopped, please have less than 10g on you and it will be a misdemeanor. Now "from what I hear" 10g of high quality is more than adequate personal supply for moderate smoker. And it's all high quality LOCALLY grown in the district, the capital of our beautiful country, product of USA.

When Maryland finally gets with the program we are talking about tax revenues that will be counted in the 100s of $Millions not 10's of $millions.
