CLARIFICATION OF NEGOTIATED FIRE SERVICE AGREEMENT

Salisbury, MD ... The recently negotiated and executed Fire Service Agreement between the City of Salisbury and Wicomico County departs from a negotiated stipend basis and is based on a negotiated fee for service schedule. It does not differentiate between paid staff and volunteer staff.

The assertion that the county has defunded the volunteers is very misleading as both paid and volunteer fire fighters in the City are under the direction of the Fire Chief and Mayor as stipulated in Article 18-3 of the City Charter.

Need to get rid of Hoopes and Day. Culver dropped the ball. Let county handle county and city handle city and stop the crap from the city once and for all.

Does this empower the City to handle volunteer funding as they see fit by putting "putting the split on the other side of the fence"?

Salisbury got exactly what they wanted, and are only upset now because they'll be paid on real numbers, not their self-inflated number! They keep trying to maintain their over-bloated empire with palatial fire palaces for a town of 30,000 people. Dover is bigger and more populous and has only 2 stations and makes out just fine. Salisbury is not Baltimore, they just think they are.

6:19, You are so wrong!

Salisbury did NOT get anything close to what they wanted. Where in the hell did you get that information, or did you just make it up.

Yes5:58. If what i understand is correct. I have a problem with my county taxes paying for salisbury?I live in fruitland so that means i pay for fruitland county and salisbury?

As in to be paid per call, now they are being paid per call, but with real numbers mean they'll get less money than before. They thought they could outsmart Culver and failed.

Culver should pay all the stations on a per call scale the same as Salisbury

With their bloated call numbers, they've been hoodwinking the state for years.

The problem is that they'll continue to run the paramedic staffed trucks/engines on just about every delta level call in order to be able to bill for an ambulance and a piece of capital fire apparatus. This is why their "fire" call numbers are so high. They've recorded between 3000-4000 "fire" calls each year for a while now to justify increasing their staff. That's 10 "fire" calls per day. I'm sorry, but the city does not run 10 automatic fire alarms, hazmat, accidents, legit fires, and legit medical assists per day. The real number of legit "fire" calls would lie somewhere in the 1800-2800 per year range if they weren't "padding the stats".
