A sixth-grader in Massachusetts was served by police with no-trespass orders after neighbors grew wary of the girl cutting through their properties to get to and from her school bus stop.
The mother of 11-year-old Autumn Blanchard told the Cape Cod Times her daughter received three pink no-trespass notices from the Harwich Police Department on March 2.
Krystal Blanchard said she was unaware neighbors had an issue until the police arrived at her door and asked why she wasn't informed by the neighbors or school officials, who also knew about the problem.
Blanchard said she wonders if the fact her family is new to the area and she and her daughter have brightly colored hair may be causing neighbors to discriminate against them. The mother has pink hair and piercings, while her daughter's hair has multiple colors.

A continued sense of entitlement yet again. Why else would you assume you have the right to cut through someone's private property?
Maybe if she had asked permission....?
Crossing someone else's property for your own convenience without ASKING permission is rude and selfish.
It is also trespassing.
There are public sidewalks in many areas, you can walk along public roads or in other public areas.
Many people don't want anyone crossing their property like that. And if something happens, like a theft or vandalism, a frequent trespasser would likely be the first one blamed.
The assumption that it should 'just be OK' for kids to walk wherever they want is wrong. That is arrogant and presumptuous.
Just stay in the public areas.

I had my son complain of traffic while walking to school, and a shortcut through Mr Outten's driveway was there, so I made him go ask for permission to cut through, Mr Outten was happy to let him through, and complimented him on his thoughts toward safety!
Just ask, people are generally nice.
If you don't want to stand out, then don't stand out.
Sad that the neighbor felt she needed to provide a reason for not wanting people on her property.
We have no trespassing signs because our drug dealing neighbor would cut between our homes and deal drugs in front of our homes instead of his. stupidly the popo said we had to have signs. Its private property eh? Why do I need a sign.
Needless to say. It stopped nothing. Thanks SPD. Maybe you can go talk to him and ask him to stop?
As liberal as those white folk that live in MA are I wouldn't think that oddly colored hair would be an issue. They are all silver hairs you know.
Maybe they were concerned that their Prius would get scratched near their Obama 2008 bumper sticker.

As a parent, I'm giving her a "3".
She hasn't taught her child respect for others, respect for the law, or any manners. She HAS taught her to be a bit strange and unusual.
Which usually leads to a lifetime of great success and happiness.

This happens here in Salisbury also,. Kids think they can walk where ever they want to. Some adults do it too. Kids used to walk across my property until I walked out there one day and stared them down. The ones that get me are the ones who have no idea what a sidewalk is. They walk right out in the middle of the street and do not want to move when a vehicle comes toward them. My brother used to speed up when he saw these fools. Believe me, they moved then.
