ROANOKE, Va. (AP) – Virginia wildlife officials say a member of the Giles County Board of Supervisors was hospitalized after being attacked by a deer.
Department of Game and Inland Fisheries spokesman Lee Walker say Paul “Chappy” Baker was attacked by a nine-point buck outside his home earlier this week.
The buck gored Baker’s lower legs and arms and caused bruises, cuts and lacerations. Walker says the attack, which lasted about 10 minutes, ended when Baker’s wife shot and killed the deer with a pistol.

Wild animals don't make for good pets. If they have been feeding the deer and he has been hanging around for four years they probably thought he was tame. They got too comfortable around the deer and let down their guard. Then they took for granted that they were safe around the deer. But you can't change a leopard's spots. That is why they call them wild animals.
Deer was defending his self, she should be shot
Venison for dinner.
Darwin award finalist?
This unfortunately happens no matter how cute when they are little, they become adults and their wild nature comes out, that is why we are always warned do not make wild animals pets. There are plenty of cats and dogs out there who need forever homes.
Hate to tell you....they have no horns this time of year. They lose horns and re-grow every year.
I saw one with antlers 3 weeks ago. Could be some are still antlered... shedding season is ARIUND now.
