Judge Paula Price Turns Down Governor Hogan

All media sources had announced Governor Hogan selecting District Court Judge Paula Price to become the new Circuit Court Judge in Somerset County.

However, they never followed up on the fact that the Honorable Judge Price turned down the Governors appointment.

Sources told me that the key reason she turned it down was because other Judges told her since she's a "come here" she will not get re elected to the position in the next election.

You just have to love the Good Ol' Boy system here on the Shore. Can you say, bullies?

If you want to hold a Woman's March, THIS IS A GOOD REASON!

Wonder if it was Chief Nelson from somerset sheriffs. He uses that saying all the time and we all know what he does with his Time Sheets for the past 20 years. If he is innocent then take a polygraph?

I really don't think Judge Price would have had any problem in the election. I would guess there is a personal reason, if she did in fact, decline the appointment. In the time I was still attending District Court, I found her to be fair and consistent. It is a shame, I think she would have been an excellent choice for the position.

You are correct about Nelson. He's as bad as they come. He's on the ambulance more than he's at the Sheriff's Office, but his paychecks show otherwise. Ronnie Howard lets him get away with it.

1239 it's so obvious on how he does it. Freedom on information for Somerset sheriff time cards, Princess Anne ambulance and Crisfield Ambulance time sheets... The further you go back the better. Ronnie Howard would fold under the political pressure if this ever got investigated. However it won't...

For crying out loud, Somerset, just put anybody with the last name Simpkins in there and be done with it.

How could the judicial commission screw this up so bad and just send one name? I bet they tried to keep this screw up under the rug. Need to find out who is on that commission and why the judge turned it down, smell a rat!

So Sad. Judge Price is fair and qualified. Looks like Somerset's good ole boys said NO, so that's what we get in Somerset. More of the good ole boys corrupt network...Simpkins/Boston/Laird.

Agree. Sounds like much more to this story., likley on both ends. Something to hide, something to gain

Damn Simpkins and Boston's. I guess they are in it with Phoebus considering he's the chairman of the judicial selection committee. All in it together, what else is new.

More to this story...perhaps.

Judge retention question isn't very controversial; most glide through since they are unopposed and IIRC it is a Yes or No choice.

Judge Price is a very strong person and something really bad happened here. Once again there is nothing from the Governor's Office and this has been kept very quiet. What is really going on? Is an old judge worried that change will come to Somerset County and some lies exposed?

She hasn't made the right donations, in large enough amounts.

Everyone knows the committee would never nominate Stets attorney Powell for the governor list. Phoebus committee should have put those two public defenders on the list and send three candidates like the rules say.
