DUI checkpoint

A sobriety checkpoint took place for five hours on Route 50 at Hall Road in Berlin last Friday night into Saturday morning.

During this time, 390 vehicles were checked and two cars were directed to the side of the road for further testing. No one was arrested for driving under the influence.

Maryland State Police, the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Berlin and Ocean Pines police all participated in the operation.

In addition, a saturation patrol took place from midnight to 3 a.m. on Saturday, which was conducted by four Maryland State Police troopers and resulted in one driving under the influence arrest.

Theft

Ocean City police officers arrested and charged Robert Jackson, 51, of Ocean City with theft on Sept. 24 after he stole a backpack the night before.

Sobriety checkpoints are a violation of the 4th Amendment to the US Constitution.

390 vehicles were stopped without probable cause. 390 violations of constitutional rights.

NO ONE was arrested. Zero.

I am very much against drunk driving. I believe in prosecuting drunk drivers to the fullest extent of the law.

But stopping people without probable cause is a grave infringement on our constitutional right to privacy and should not be allowed.

2:51.....
It's the slippery slope of giving up our God-given rights for some measure of security, being convinced by the "authorities" that it is for our own good, and EVERY time, say "it's only temporary" -- when it ALWAYS becomes permanent, but more and more people are seeing the truth every day.
That truth is, "we, the people" are governed by the Constitution, not THEM.
Cheering doesn't help anything, either, by the way.
Just sayin'.....

Exactly why we no longer travel to and spend money in OC. Not giving up the 4th Amendment to the US Constitution for the sake of dining and entertainment. Hope that the OT paid to LEO eventually makes it back to the local economy.

.07 and exibiting no observed impairment while driving is NOT drunk. Screwing over these people does make alot of money for the govt though....

Another way they use their power to destroy our rights, cause problems instead of solving and not to mention it truthfully can't be lawful is just been allowed by they shareholders of the criminal systems filing our heads with their thoughts and invests not ours! I mean to keep it truthful you can't call the police and get a timely repose if you get a response at ALL but yet they have time to sit on a highway 10 deep and Mrs with everyone that comes down that road they want to. How can you take a line pick from it completely walk over that person's rights and life and not treat ask in the line the same and call it justice. The "justice system" is nothing but a CASH SYSTEM that has a huge profit climb streaky off of any and everyones lies they feel like taking it from. We have a opiate epidemic and they line up on 50 to Mrs with random folks....when well we stand up and say ENOUGH is enough and we are tired of paying for our own misery and we won't take it no more....no man out there is more or less important then another person on this planet...We need to bring back humanity, morals and mostly compassion
