Growth for Maryland Casinos

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — With five casinos in the state and one more on the way, the casinos’ numbers are looking better than ever. Tracey Leong explains why.

This past August, Maryland casinos generated more than 100 million dollars in revenue– almost a four percent spike from last year.

Maryland is home to five booming casinos: Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore, Hollywood Casino in Perryville, Ocean Downs Casino near Ocean City, and Maryland Live Casino in Anne Arundel County.

The casinos netted a combined $100.3 million dollars. This is the fourth time since the casinos opened in 2010, that revenue was more than $100 million.

And now, with one of them now expanding, that’s an even bigger boost for our state.

Wish I could say great , however , we have become a nation of gamblers. This is an illness and an addiction . Just another government controlled business.

Where's the money that was promised to the school systems? With closures due to infrastructure failures - they need that additional funding!

Or did it simply not materialize at the rate you expected? Maybe, we told you so on that one as well!
