Troopers Arrest Millsboro Man for 6th Offense DUI

Dagsboro, DE- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Millsboro man after he was found to be operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol for the 6th time.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:07 p.m. Wednesday July 27, 2016 as a trooper parked stationary on East Diamond Street facing Power Plant Road, observed a 2012 GMC Sierra traveling northbound on Power Plant Road without a headlight.  The trooper conducted a traffic stop on the pick-up truck on Iron Branch Road north of Bunting Road.  Contact was then made with the operator, Gary L. Levis, 52 of Millsboro, and an odor of marijuana and alcohol was detected.  A DUI investigation ensued and Levis was taken into custody and transported back to Troop 4.  Prior to leaving the scene, an inventory search of the vehicle was conducted and troopers located 16 Oxycodone pills and 16.74 grams of marijuana.  A computer check revealed he had five previous DUI convictions (05/15/94, 11/18/94, 03/27/95, 03/31/95, and 04/05/04); this arrest would make #6.
Gary Levis was charged with 6th Offense Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription, Possession of Marijuana, and Driving without Two Headlights.  He was arraigned at JP3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $12,650.00 secured bond.

Publishers Notes: The other day  SBYNEWS posted about the DSP having traffic stops to check for DUI.    What good does stopping and checking all these people if they are just going to let them go so they can do it again and again.  Get the repeat offenders off the roads and maybe they won't have to keep stopping the innocent people.

It's not about your safety people! Allowing repeat offenders means more probation and parole. Which means more money generated for the state by court cost, fines and probation fees etc. Youll only receive 4-6 yrs at most if convicted of manslaughter and then they're right back out there in probation and parole again. And the cycle continues! You sheep are a calculated risk factor in the money generating machine of the government.

2:53. Yes. It is not about safety it's about $.

You both are morons. DUI only costs money to arrest and prosecute. ZERO dollars are profited from DUI. SO it is about safety.

They continue to re-offend, they need to be shamed just like the Johns. Put name, photo and all other info on the internet for all to see! Plus, 2nd offense, mandatory 90 days in jail, no work release!

They keep driving even when licenses are suspended or revoked. There has to be a better solution.
Thanks to the police for doing their jobs in the only way they can, which is getting them off the road for at least a little while.
