Convention Chaos: Floor erupts as GOP shuts down anti-Trump rebels

CLEVELAND — The floor of the Republican convention erupted in pandemonium Monday as delegates for and against Donald Trump's nomination fought over the rules package that would govern his nomination for president later this week. Republican Party officials put down a rebellion by conservative delegates denying them a roll call vote on the new set of rules. The coalition of rebel delegates, joined by delegates who support Trump's nomination, moved for consideration of an alternate rules package after submitting the required number of petitions to the convention secretary. That rules package would have unbound delegates and possibly let them vote for someone other than Trump. Rep. Steve Womack of Arkansas, acting as presiding officer over the convention, called for a voice vote of the rules package and deemed sufficient support for it to pass. More

They just don't get it. The people voted for Trump. They need to get over their sore loser mentality and move on. If you don't like your state's system, change it so that the voters in your state have a chance to vote in a primary. Don't come to the convention acting like immature spoiled brats.

I like a lot of what Trump says, but don't believe a word of it. I think he will be a fool of a candidate and a disaster if elected. That said, if the majority want Trump as their candidate, then we need to unify against the Democratic / Progressive machine and defeat Hillary. She is the real enemy in this equation.

It was obvious the large noise was rebellion and distaste for the mere suggestion of changing the rules at the last minute! Every State voted along side the rules as they stood, and every State deserves to see that the Convention follow those rules.

Get ready, folks. This isn't going to end well.

I think Trump is just crazy enough to fix this country. It will take balls and not professional politicians. That is who got us in this trouble. We need Patriots he get my vote and even my family that are life long Dems are voting for him. Enough is enough

9:37 being a life long democrat I guess you wouldn't have any idea it's you and your family's voting pattern that helped get us where we are?
Glad to see you are finally waking up to the truth. Wonder if this is just a one time fling for you or are you going to vote republican from here on out?
