The pedestrian, a 19-year-old female from New Jersey, was crossing Coastal Highway from west to east in the north crosswalk against the pedestrian signal when she was struck by an SUV. The Ocean City Police Department is reminding residents and visitors to always wait for the pedestrian signal to change before crossing Coastal Highway.

Walking against the pedestrian light... and it's started already. Not even Memorial Day. No matter what OC does, you can't fix stupid. Kids run out in the streets of Salisbury when school lets out much the same way, yet cops do nothing. Reinstate jaywalking tickets (instead of the idiotic cameras) and both cities will find their coffers will fill quickly. Once again, parents not teaching kids to look both ways at an early age. The victim here is the motorist, not the pedestrian.

We travel a lot on Rt 13 South. We have noticed a trend of students walking against the no walk sign. They walk, dont look, and smirk at you while you are trying to make the right at that light. stupid!

All of you calling this girl names or making fun, labeling her as different from yourself are part of the problem. I was in the hospital ER when they brought this girl in. She is someones daughter, someones friend. Have some compassion for human life regardless of the ignorance and the world will be a better place. I pray she makes it.
