Unit block of Aisquith Street
On April 27, 2016, at approximately 4:10pm, two Baltimore Police Officers were in the area of Aisquith Street and Baltimore Street when they observed a male with a handgun. The officers began to chase the suspect on foot and at the conclusion of the chase a shooting occurred. The suspect, a 13-year old male, was transported to an area hospital for treatment with non-life threatening injuries. The officers were not injured during the incident.
Investigators from our Special Investigation Response Team were called to the scene and are investigating the circumstances around this incident. A replica handgun was recovered from the scene which is pictured below.

No red on end barrel. So how was the Police to know it was not a deadly firearm. The crime should be charged and prosecuted as a real firearm.
The kid ran. It doesn't say he brandished or pointed the gun.
He ran, and got shot.
Just like the traffic stop with the run through the park. Toss a taser next to him and call it a day.
If someone is running away, deadly force is NOT an option MAYBE he just "gets away".
Actually, it doesn't say the gun wasn't pointed. All it says is"at the conclusion of the chase." And actually, in some circumstances, deadly force IS justified against a fleeing person. There is not enough information in this article to say either way.

It says the police SAW HIM WITH THE GUN. Should they just drive off and let a 13 yr old with a gun walk the streets? Why did he run? He ran because he knew he was in trouble.

Then they also take the real weapon and dip the front of the barrel tip in red paint.

That gun is fake, not real as in shooting bullets... Maybe a pellet gun or plastic...
I agree with 9:25 why did he run if he was innocent. I have grandsons and they don't run from police when they are carrying a play gun because they know they did nothing wrong. He should have stopped and just let the police see the gun how were they to know it wasn't real and that he wasn't going to use it on them or someone else if he already hadn't.
Can someone please teach these cops some marksmanship?
I say pretty good shooting, have you ever tried to hit a running target?
