Jane Fonda & Montana Restaurant

Some of you may know all or most of this story and some will have no idea what this woman was really all about.
The radio station America FM was doing one of its 'Is Anyone Listening?' bits this morning.
The first question was; 'Ever have a celebrity come up with the 'Do you know who I am?  routine?'
A woman called in and said that a few years ago, while visiting her cattle rancher uncle in Billings, MT. she had occasion to go to dinner at a  restaurant that does not take reservations.
The wait was about 45 minutes.
Many local ranchers and their wives were waiting.
Ted Turner and his ex-wife Jane Fonda came in the restaurant and wanted a table.
The hostess informed them that they'd have to wait 45 minutes.
Jane Fonda asked the hostess, 'Do you know who I am?'
The hostess answered, 'Yes, but you'll have to wait 45 minutes.'
Then Jane asked if the manager was in. When the manager came out, he asked, 'May I help you?'
'Do you know who we are?' both Ted and Jane asked.
'Yes, but these folks have been waiting, and I can't put you ahead of them.'
Then Ted asked to speak to the owner. The owner came out, and Jane again asked, 'Do you know who I am?'
The owner answered, 'Yes, I do.  Do you know who I am? I am the owner of this restaurant and I am a Vietnam Veteran. Not only will you not get a table ahead of my friends and neighbor’s who have been waiting here, but you also will not be eating in my restaurant tonight or any other night.  Good bye.'
To all who received this, this is a true story and the name of the steak house is:
                       Sir Scott's Oasis Steakhouse
                       204 W. Main,
                       Manhattan, MT59741
                       (406) 284-6929

This proves that VietNam Vets are still proud even though they were treated like crap for many years. If I was closer I would travel to his restaurant. That would be a good road trip for a group of us. Where is a travel agency that would book this?

Put both of them in jail with Hillary

Yeah, but it happened about fifteen years ago, maybe twenty.

Much more than she deserves.

That will probably be one of the highlights of his life.
I'll bet it felt GREAT!

If I am ever in Montana I will go there for dinner and shake his hand.

Snopes says no, but it's a good story, anyway.

Snopes is 100% right about 22% of the time; marginally correct - sometimes in a convaluted way - about 57% of the time; the other 21% of the time they are flat out wrong. Facebook is more accurate.

Checked the reviews on Yelp. They do take reservations. Restaurant looks like an old folks steak house. Relish and cracker trays served on the table. Steel inserts in plastic serving plates for steaks. Not many of these place still surviving. There were a few in my area but all have closed in the past 5 years.

Should have allowed her to eat there, but serve her a special pie, like in the movie, "The Help", did.

She's damned lucky he only refused to serve her and told her to leave.

This fable has been around some say since 1994 and will slowly fade away due to the diminishing number of people that remember "Hanoi Jane". Her comments in 1994 "If you're ever in a situation where you're not getting served or you can't get what you need, just cry," she recommends. Fonda, who attended the Goodwill Games in Russia with her husband, Ted Turner, said she tried the crying game when an elevator operator in Moscow was too busy reading a letter to take her upstairs, and once again when she couldn't get served in a restaurant. Worked every time.

This is a hoax; never happened.

As the old bumper sticker said" I'm not Fonda Hanoi Jane"

You know it did it made me feel good I had friends that served in Vietnam I think what she did to the Pow's was reprehensible and should have been considered an act of treason
