Can anyone define the range for a speed violation on the City’s roads or is it something their speed camera contractor does?
I do openly admit that I WAS over the posted limit but am simply trying to understand what Salisbury’s rules are with regard to their camera generated revenue since the State Police generally uses 10 mph (?) over as a violation.
Maybe too many drug mules are getting run over?

Thank So! Where is the new camera exactly? I've gotten pegged by the camera by DeVage's a few times because I didn't spot it and mistakenly thought all the cameras were by schools.
State law is 12 miles over is a ticket from speed cameras. The speed limit there is 35. 35 + 12 = 47. You were going exactly 12 miles over.
It is a school zone. In the city!! You had just passed through a lighted intersection.
That's a 35 mph zone, and the camera clicks at 12+ mph over. I got one in Fruitland in a posted 30 zone and the ticket said it was a posted 25. The ticket said I was going 50+ in a driving rainstorm and the photo was so blurry with rain and road mist my vehicle was hardly visible. I'd like to see all those cameras gone.
unless it has been changed, speed cameras in md school zones and construction zones can only issue citations if you are driving 12mph over the speed limit or more. fight the ticket
There is a great deal of foot traffic on that road so 5mph over is most likely the max you will get away with.
Fruitlands way of keeping you from fighting the ticket is to send you a "second notice" claiming you never responded to the first notice, thereby eliminating your right to fight the ticket and adding a late fee! Thieves plain and simple.
Yes, fight the ticket. I hate those cameras and the only reason they use them is to generate money. So wrong.

Why is the City PD enforcing so called safety in a school zone? The schools are Wicomico County Schools so why is the City of Salisbury benefiting off of them? Does that revenue go back to the County? Well it should?
The camera clocked 46.3 so they must be rounding up to reach 12 mph over. Gives them a little extra cash I guess.
Have them summons your accuser and request calibration records for the radar unit.

If you didn't get the first notice, then why did you get the 2nd notice. I got 2 and when the day comes I am going to say I never got either!
What happens if you don't get the notice and it goes unpaid?
The paper says you have to request the man from Fredrick to come to court. Bull! It's the States responsibility. They have the burden of proving by having him there. Move to dismiss once you bring up the fact the state has the burden. Tell the judge to preserve the record and state this. It's not your job to contact him. Should be thrown out immediately and if not the appeals court will. Once somebody goes that far then and only then will these cameras disappear.
I've had approximately six of these notices and each were twelve miles over, no more no less. Wondered if they were calibrated correct or what. Is seemed strange that would happen, but not worth spending time in that environment for forty bucks. I have gotten in a habit of avoiding them all, even if inconvenient.
Gotta pay for all those benefits.
I paid my ticket from Fruitland and still got a 2nd notice. It took me 3 days to get it fixed.
I just stay out of Fruitland and go around school zones.
Very simple solution, drive the Damm speed limit. Speed limits are posted, read and obey.
What ever happened to my right to face my accuser?
I'll tell you what happened., more BS 'interpretation of the law' by the serpentine judicial system, that's what happened to my rights. Laws were written with well chosen language, but at times they don't suit, so they're 'interpreted', changed to suit.
That some cop can show up in court and claim to be my accuser after looking at a GD photograph is the crime here. And, our judicial system is the traitorous criminal perp who's committing it.
Just don't speed
Foskey Lane and 2nd St. I was lost and have no clue where that even is but ended up costing me $40. Claims I was going 43.70. I usually don't speed when I am lost. It's ridiculous, the whole thing is ridiculous.
So tired of the "just don't speed" BS. It's all about money, nothing but money.
One mile over the posted speed is a violation. 10 mile over is urban legend like vodka doesn't smell or penny kill odor of alcohol.
If you get behind me on Camden from Moore's Corner south be prepared to idle along. They want a ridiculous speed limit there and I'm gonna give it to 'em.
These devices are just going to run whatever businesses are left in Wicomico - out of Wicomico. Not that we can lose many more - as virtually all have exodus out of here anyway.
It appears this person does not pay attention to anything when behind the wheel, so other drivers, watch out!
Writer never paid attention to the school zone they are barreling through. Apparently he/she has been doing it for years, it has always been 35mph in the last quarter century I've been behind the wheel. It is 35 mph until after the Armory on West route 50.
Those cameras? They have been there for years as well, meant for just such a person. Maybe this person should slow down, look around, and start paying attention? As this article proves, he/she has only become aware when they got slapped with a measly $40 fine.
I wouldn't be surprised if this person is one of the last three to run into me in just the last year's time. My job requires 8 hours of driving around the eastern shore every other day. I experience ignorant people, who SHOULD NOT have a license every trip! This sounds like one of them.
I bet this camera will make this person slow down when he/she comes up to Wicomico Middle School now. I, for one am fine with the camera's. There is no reason to go 12 miles or over the speed limit, especially in town and through neighborhoods!
