A Viewer Writes: Salisbury getting an armored vehicle

Why would Salisbury want a armored vehicle? Now that's 3 that I know of in the County. Delmar, the Sheriff's Office and Salisbury. Thought we had no crime problem Babs!

What DAY wants DAY will get city adminstrator doesn't have spine enough to question anything mayor's office does!!!

Looks as if it's nothing more than modified Hummer.
I don't understand why they would have a need for this anyway.
But we are switching to a military police force with the Obama administration. Wonder why? Maybe the 4th amendment or the 3rd.

With the fire boat the town will have a complete -but useless- arsenal. Ain't that wonderful!!

Better to subdue the public when they confiscate guns.

Okay, I'll tell you why they are getting the military vehicles... they are getting prepared for the riots that will be coming.

The Feds will need teh additional support in case Obama decides on a third term.

Exactly 8:06 but the sad thing is, no one else can see it...

Even more sad is how OBAMA said himself on live tv to all of your faces, that he wanted a civilian military force equal or greater power and equipment than the current military... Ever want to know why????? Because the civilian police force is under the presidents control, and posse comitatus... ONly the police are allowed to be on the streets even as a military force, under law... The military cannot under current law, so what better way to circumvent that law...

Police even have bayonets... WTF do cops need bayonets for? Riots when they run out of bullets...

Better to have it and not need it, versus need it and not have it.

Because their FREE! Just like the fireboat they maintain now.

Anonymous said...

The SPD already has one but it's an older vehicle.

Settle down people yes/cities all across america are getting these things for free or at huge discounted pricing. They are sold military stock. Typically all the town pays for is paint job/decals to match the rest if the fleet vehicles. No big deal

Who cares!!! The city of salisbury and wicomico county and all its representatives are a joke!!

Getting ready for the zombie apocalypse. Fruitland is ready. They have two in the fence out back. I have never seen them move.

8:40, Much like a $1,400,000.00 Fore Boat to cover a 1/4 mile of waterfront property in the City of Salisbury, it must be manned and maintained. The same will go with this vehicle. The gas mileage is next to nothing and Delmar is constantly driving their around under their former leadership. The expense of converting this vehicle is unbelievable as well, especially when the City claims they can't even afford to put the light package on the new police cars they've been getting in. They sat for months.

I find it amazing how elected officials like Jim ireton can bring on a rain tax when the massive majority were against it. Same goes with equipment like this. It is NOT necessary and with the Sheriff's Department and Delmar already owning one, IT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT NECESSARY.

Anonymous said...

"But if we refuse it, they'll take us off their government goodies mailing list!?

Anonymous said...

Not my pay grade to suggest whether necessary or not. But on a positive note, this piece of equipment may be better in our area than leaving it behind for ISIS or as the lefties say ISIL. What say you?

Salisbury is just getting ready for its own "Freddy Grey" moment. It's coming folks.

Anonymous said...

It was given to the police department through a grant. The city did not put out any money to get it.

Anonymous said...

How ridiculous glad I don't live in Salisbury I'd be pissed. I think the tax payers money would of been much better spent on community improvements...

Anonymous said...

The have to keep up with the gang's.

And yet the local cops only go after shoplifters and speeders.

10:04, As I mentioned earlier, they will have to equip this vehicle with very special equipment to power the lights and so forth. They'll have to paint the vehicle, decals and more importantly they'll have to maintain it. I also stated earlier that the City couldn't even afford to purchase and install the equipment on their standard new vehicles and they sat for months before they could become road worthy. I'll repeat, with similar vehicles in Delmar and the Sheriff's Department, this is not a necessity for Salisbury.

Anonymous said...

They can buy any piece of outdated equipment at governmet auction

LOL the bury is too lazy to have a freddie grey moment. it would mean they have to put down their joints and needles.

April 26, 2016 at 8:40 AM - you are an idiot. Can't quite see the forest thru the trees, and the signs of what the future holds, eh?

So why does TOM STEVENSON as outlined in his job description for once put a stop to some of the frivolous expenses that this council and current mayor request. It is in no way shape or form cost efficient and/ or necessary.

WHOM do they plan on using this against?? Are there citizens using armor-piercing rounds or molten copper IED's??
Or are the seat belt violators becoming too hard to handle??
Or does it make the former military people (some of whom still think they are kicking insurgent's aces instead of dealing with American citizens WITH RIGHTS)) feel more at home?
Or do we have so much money the taxpayers don't need to worry about the cracked sidewalks and roads in disrepair?
Or are our "leaders" just as stupid as they are on the state and national level?
I'm going with "seat belt violators". They are a cash cow, but scary enough to need that little extra edge.....

Idiots there is a ton of surplus out there. Maybe sell it to ISIS ??? This is typical the stuff needs to be used tax dollars built it and we should use it. One never knows when Baltimore will come to town. Weather related issues etc... Give it a rest cop bashers and haters. You Libtards make me sick

Anonymous said...

IDIOT ISIS has everything they need at their disposal. Do you really think local governments equipping themselves with military surplus is going to deter or make a difference what ISIS does?? What good is an armoires vehicle going to do against a chemical or nuclear threat?? And by what's been documented there have been a lot of our servicemen killed and or severely mamed losing limbs in these "so called" arm our vehicles.

Like several others why not and maybe WHEN can you people in city government get it through your heads it's not about YOU or you trying to look good for the cameras or being popular it's about us as citizens!!! REALLY the roads, within the last year I've replaced tires, shocks, ball joints basically my whole front end. Some of the "CRATER" sized potholes literally sound like my truck is coming apart if you hit them. Come on Salisbury you've heard this complaint during IRETON now Day and still nothing done, but the county gets bypass funding.

When has the law stopped Obammy?

Anonymous said...

Remember charm city last year?

It might help against the "charm city" thug type.

The bypass is a state owned road that runs through the county. The state pays for the road to be repaired and for snow removal.

ive heard this weak ass excuse for years aboit the state the state the state, ireton blaming route 13 on the state. Enough excuses salisbury mayor Day lets get something done

1:00....libtards??
If "Baltimore comes to town", they'll be pretty sorry about it if they encounter me and there are a whole lot of citizens just like me. This area isn't a community of geeky office workers who are unwilling and, more importantly, INCAPABLE of doing anything about people tearing up the mall, threatening drivers, or assaulting their family. Ain't no "libtard" in THAT, is there?
"We, the people" don't need a pseudo-military force, complete with military grade weapons. That can get out of hand quickly. In fact, it looks like it probably already has....
Keep cheering.

I never really thought about this until i saw this article but this is a doulble shaft of taxpayers dollars spent.Your federal tax dollar bought and maintained it on the first round and now you local tax dollars will be spent for all its expensive upkeep and J.G.Parks has the racket to maintain these.Be nice to see some of the 100% parts mark up and 200 dollar a hour labor bills he will charge.

You and your friends won't do anything, but shuffle your feet, and head back to your keyboard to type tough stuff. You don't have to admit it here, but you know that it is true.

9:15...good try...anonymous....lol....

Anonymous said...

why do we need it when there is no crime here

Anonymous said...

If its the armored vehicle currently sitting behind SPD, its a total piece of crap. It looks a like a converted mail truck. Its laughable, at best.

Anonymous said...

The county has one too.
