Debate Over Welcoming Syrian Refugees Into Md. Heating Up

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) — The debate over welcoming Syrian refugees into Maryland is heating up. Almost 80 Maryland lawmakers are pushing the governor to allow refugees to come to the state, but the governor says, right now, it’s not a good idea.

Ava-joye Burnett found out one of the biggest concerns is that extremists could sneak into the country along with innocent refugees.

The debate to allow refugees into the United States reached a fever pitch after the Paris attacks. There are Syrian refugees living in Maryland right now, and there’s a push to allow even more.

Their homeland has been ripped apart amidst a civil war. As hundreds of thousands of Syrians continue to flee their home, lawmakers want Maryland’s governor to do something.

Thank you Governor Hogan for standing up to them and saying no. We need to take care of our own citizens!

How about the so called lawmakers who support these people allow them to move in next door to them, and they pay for their upkeep instead of us working taxpayers! I believe that most Democrats just plain don't have any common sense. They always vote to have the burden put on someone else.

80 Maryland legislators pushing for this equals 80 places to move the refugees. Let us know how your new next door neighbors work out before you impose them on the rest of us.

There's more lawmakers who want more Muslims to move here, than citizens.

And they are supposed to represent US!

When in the F did WE become responsible for people from the Middle East having a nice house in the United States??
Aren't there any safe, peaceful, nonviolent Muslim countries in the region they could settle in?
They have to cross an OCEAN? To live in a CHRISTIAN country? (and yes, I do know how that irritates some of you, but that's the truth. YOU may not be a Christian, but just look around, okay??).
Three months ago these "refugees" were dancing in the street because there leaders just drowned 50 Christians in a wire cage and raped all the preteen girls in their town.
Now, they are sorry about that and want an apartment next door.
Your "leaders" think THAT is a great idea. Inclusion and diversity.
And murder.
But since it's YOUR family (THEIRS are guarded day and night by armed men YOU pay for), its a risk we gotta take. And you VOTE for them?????
Keep cheering.

gotta give hogan credit for standing up to the democratic majority in maryland people veted their feelings with the democratic party by electing a republican governor,in a state where democrat voters outnumber republicans 2 to 1 put the issue on the ballot and let voters decide if they want their state overrun with immigrants, when we don't have any imformation about them except they come from a country we are fighting
