Amazon Launches Its Own YouTube-Like Service: Amazon Video Direct

Amazon already squares off against Netflix and iTunes in the streaming video subscription and rental marketplaces, so it’s probably not a shock that Amazon now has YouTube in its sights with a new platform for amateur moviemakers called Amazon Direct Video.

It was only a matter of time before this happened. Actually, SmartTVs have been featuring the Amazon app for a long time. Now, they're hopefully going to offer even more of a selection. Good for Amazon. Pretty soon, like video stores, you'll see a drop in theaters. Cheaper to stay at home and pop your own popcorn for $.50 a bag verses $12.00 for a bucket in addition to the $12.00 ticket. Movie theaters did it to themselves.

Thus, making it virtually possible to never leave your home again.
