CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) — Four young men got more than a meal when they killed and grilled a timber rattlesnake in western Maryland — they were hit with fines of $200 each in court.
Online court records show the men from Glen Burnie pleaded guilty Tuesday in district court in Cumberland to possessing or destroying the rattlesnake. It’s a state-protected species.
Each was fined $500, with $300 suspended. All received probation before judgment, meaning their convictions can be expunged after probationary periods ranging from 14 to 28 months.

There is very little chance of any shorebilly encountering a poisonous/venomous snake on the shore. Yeah, I hear it now, "I seen a copperhead over yonder the week before I seen a cottonmouth down by the crick". If there are so many venomous snakes around why is it that you never heard of a snake bite case at PRMC requiring anti-venom. One would think that if someone was treated for such a bite, it would be new and the subject of the local grapevine. Just doesn't happen because they are not here in any significant numbers.
Shorebilly's are smart enough to not get bitten unlike the Citiots.
Last thing a shorebilly says is "Hey y'all watch this!"
