The students, who attend Christiansburg High School in southwestern Virginia, were accused of violating the school’s dress code by wearing clothes with Confederate regalia, according to the Associated Press. The dress code specifically bars students from wearing any clothing that could “reflect adversely on persons due to race” and specifies that “clothing with Confederate flag symbols” falls in that category.
Civil War symbols that relate to the Confederacy have come under renewed scrutiny in recent months after a white man went on a shooting rampage at a historically black Methodist church in Charleston, S.C. in June. Dylan Roof, 21, posed in photographs waving the Confederate flag.

Steve YOU are a DUMB P.O.S. if you think the Confederate flag is racist and you seriously think you can correlate this incident with Dylan Roof. If you are not intelligent enough to realize it we live below the Mason Dixon Line and that is where the South begins. We Southerners take pride in the fact that many of our ancestors fought for the Confederacy and we are proud of that. This is a part of our American history and we are proud of it. It is ignorant people like you that adds credence to the ignorance of Nicki Haley, Mitt Romney and Obama. Steve you are pretty ignorant and obviously racist yourself against Southerners. We are not going down without a fight and if you are to stupid to join us then you need to go back to stupid and get a real education.
I am very sad to see Virginia schools taking this posture. Very disappointing.I would have expected this in Maryland but not Virginia

They allow the Mexican flag to be worn in schools all over the USA....yet they don't allow this. Heck now you can't even wear shirt with the US flag on it!

The way the courts are now I doubt they would win.
no law against it. when school pays for their clothes, they can tell em what to wear. “reflect adversely on persons due to race” is a matter of personal opinion & not a rule or law.
