Hogan And Franchot Criticize Kamenetz For Lack Of Air Conditioning In Baltimore County Schools

Gov. Larry Hogan and Comptroller Peter Franchot have called out Baltimore County leaders over the lack of air conditioning in more than four dozen schools.

During Wednesday's Board of Public Works meeting, Hogan and Franchot said they plan to summon county schools Superintendent Dallas Dance and County Executive Kevin Kamenetz to Annapolis to give an update on how they are addressing the problem.

"It's an absolutely disgraceful and unacceptable situation," Hogan said during the meeting. "There's no excuse not to have air conditioning fixed."

Baltimore County Public Schools have shortened the school day or canceled after-school activities three times this school year due to heat. Franchot has been taking Baltimore County to task on the issue for years.

No one is talking about the units they did have and were stolen then sold for the copper in them.

I didn't have AC either and guess what, many of us became doctors, lawyers and teachers. That's correct teachers! They went back in that same environment to teach.

Mark my words - Kevin Kamenetz (with his bad perm) will be running for governor next go around.

Like others, we grew up with no AC in schools and are just fine. With all of the other problems in the schools and the county, Kevin Kamenetz and Dallas Dance (the Teflon super) need to address the more pressing issues.

I grew up with no TV, and no bathtub or shower at home and guess what it did not help me do better in school when everybody else had those things. I couldn't do TV homework and it was harder to keep clean.

At that time no air at home but none in school either. That was a draw. Today that is not the case. The air is at home, no air at work where there could be air is a disadvantage to being successful and this includes school.
