Haters, they are everywhere. There are 4 people, two of them children along with a revived family pet that are alive today because of these men and woman, plus 1 caring neighbor.

So... They went to work as firefighters last night and... By God... They had a fire. They did their job and put it out. End of story. What next? "At Popeyes today, the well trained crew provided quick decisive action resulting in the best possible outcome during the lunch rush. Customers experienced a minimal wait and all orders were correct" . What a crock of crap. You did your job. Don't break your arm patting yourself on your back. SMH

No that is not true!

Can someone tell me why they have to brag about themselves on Facebook? It's their job to put out fires. Well trained? A monkey can put wet stuff on the red stuff. DUH!!

Those people are self absorbed conceited morons. I will no longer support them.

That comment looks like something Rick Hoppes would write.

Strong work? LMAO. That sounds like stupid crap John Tull says.

Thank God we have a paid crew on duty that responded on their rig when the alarm went off. What if that family had to wait for the volunteers to decide if they were going to get out of bed and drive up to the station hoping that others showed up to get a piece out. More times than not they scratch.

The guy with the residential ladder did the best job.

Yes it is their job and they should take pride in doing it, a small thank you is more than enough. I really don't see a monkey putting out fires but I will agree the Fire Departments are loaded with clowns dressing the part and contributing nothing while endlessly pumping themselves up as heroes and saviors. Social Media equals look at me and goes hand in hand with so called Fireman that want to be worshipped like gods but spend more time trying to draw attention to themselves while stabbing their brothers in the back.

A young boy was rescued from inside who couldn't get out. Very strong work! Firefighters can't move fast enough when a child is reported trapped or hurt. Yet alone adults. Speaking of which..... The adults in the story.... How could they just save themselves and let the child fend for himself? I'm sorry. I know its best to get out. Let the pros work. But my kid.... I'm gonna die before I leave my kids in a burning building.
This being said... 10:25 your a complete moron who knows nothing of fighting fire. If you did then you'd be praising these guys not washing them. Unless your a firefighter who is disgruntled for some reason. If that's the case ,you need to go! Your a liability!

Christ with all the bitching done about them they have to show they're worth. The one child saved is worth every dime spent on all fire salaries forever! May not be to you,but to him and his family! It certainly is to me and I don't know any of the victims.

Since I am a longtime volunteer firefighter and life member of Salisbury Fire Department I can say this as one of us. I’m seeing a tremendous decline in volunteerism amongst SFD to the point I as well as the community should begin having concerns. Due to my age I can no longer ride the rigs anymore but I still listen to the radio very closely. Salisbury volunteer firemen you better get your act together before you all become extinct. The alarming number of failed responses to alarms of all kinds all hours of the day and night are have become crazy. What has happened to the volunteers in the last five years? Seriously five years ago there were volunteers hanging off the fire trucks and today nothing. Take last night’s house fire for example station 2 and 16 volunteers did not respond in the allotted 8 minute fail time period so 911 went to the next available company being Parsonsburg. Thankfully station 1 volunteers did respond in a timely fashion but 2 and 16 were close to the 12 minute mark before they responded. Guys that is not acceptable! Thank god there is an available staffed engine at station 16 that was due on the call who arrived quickly resulting in a saved life.

2:24 I'll tell you what is wrong. However, as a member, you already know. Why do people want to volunteer only to be bossed around and treated like crap by tenured members. Holding people to respond to a certain amount of calls or else they are thrown out is ridiculous. They are VOLUNTEERS! Be happy with what they can give when they can give it. Instead of trading volunteers like a valuable asset, membership and fire command staff treat them like crap and then constantly take cap about them behind their back. Instead of helping people succeed, the other members put every obstacle possible in front of them and hope to get rid of them because they feel "threatened" by new people. It threatens their future promotion to officer, it threatens their ability to be first to the station and it threatens their ego. Plain and simple, if you want volunteers, treat them well and make them feel accepted. Make it easier for people who are donating their time and volunteering. Just my 2 cents. I've been there.

An extra 2/minutes is alot in the dynamics of a fire. Paid crews get out quicker! Period.

A staffed fire engine gets out faster period paid or volunteer has nothing to do with it. Firehouses all over the country with a high volume of calls staff at least one piece of fire equipment. It would be easy to have a 3-4 person crew in station each night of the week but no Salisbury volunteers are to good for that they say pay us and we'll stay. Well if you are being paid you are no longer a volunteer so has it come to a point Salisbury needs to become all paid or more paid still backed up by volunteers? The number one problem with volunteers in Salisbury is leadership within the volunteers. Your volunteer deputy chief does nothing. There aren't enough volunteers to fill the officer ranks of the volunteers nor are there any leaders in what officers there are. Until there is solid leadership in the volunteers they will continue to fail until eventually there will be none. Better think about it.

boy a lot of anonymous can write negative comments. I am a career firefighter in SFD and I do sign my name. I grew up in SFD, my dad was a volley at Sta 2, my brother a volley at Sta 2, I was a volley at Sta 2. Now I am career and my brother is to, but he is Deputy Chief. I feel all the negative is from ones that done contribute, want to buck anything, they are to lazy for the SFD and are just miserable . I say sign your name when you post or just stay home when there is a fire. we have many vollies who do come to help, ant THEY should be applauded. Social Club, or Coffee Club should be at the ELKS, MOOSE or DUNKIN DONUTS. most of us are here to help, but many CAREER and VOLLIES just want to sit and complain they have to go on a call. NEWSFLASH get a new job or go vollie somewhere else. I don't care who likes me or talks about me. I am here for the public I was hired to protect, and for my family. if anyoneone cares to confront me you know where I work. anonymous comments don't mean anything to me. a COWARD is a COWARD and always will be. But I know you bash my brother John but when he is around it is hey Dep or hey buddy and I think that is a disgrace. I know who a lot of the anonymous are. but you have showed you true colors. as I said SFD is a good dept. but certain ones ar bringing it down. RICHARD TULL B-Shift
