They said they are leaving because the Supreme Court’s decision to allow same-sex marriages clashes with their religious beliefs.
The entire staff at a Tennessee county clerk’s office submitted their resignations this week rather than issue same-sex marriage licenses, reports WBIR.
Decatur County Clerk Gwen Pope — along with employees Sharon Bell and Mickey Butler — said their last day on the job will on July 14, and that they are leaving because the Supreme Court’s decision to allow same-sex marriages clashes with their religious beliefs.
Speaking for the three employees whose resignations take effect July 14, Pope said they were doing it for “for the glory of God,” and not for the publicity.
“It’s kind of sort of like you don’t want to draw attention to yourself for any reason,” Pope explained. “That’s not why we’re doing this. Not doing it in any way to draw attention to us. It’s for the glory of God. He’s going to get all the glory.”

Good for them! I wonder how many other Christians will take a stand for Christ in this one?
Only the beginning. This was not factored in was it.
I also say good for them, it' about time Christians started taking a stand. Also everyone, fly those American Flags real high, every day. This is the United States of America, be proud of it.
Clerks are easy to replace. Job openings!
Probably just hire some gay to put in there.
Am very proud of those ladies. They have more nads than our government
Problem is that now there are good people without jobs...that will be filled by liberals willing to do things without a conscience!
Yes, good. Now someone who will actually do their job can take the open position.
You are correct 8:40 and life goes on. They are free to do all their church things and someone else will do the government job.
When they honor God, He will take care of them.
A clear conscience is way more important than political correctness.
Good for them for standing up for what they believe, albeit against the law of the land.
How about if it is their second, third, fourth marriage? Any of these clerks give license for that, I think yes.
@1045am you're stupid, yea after their widowers and widows. moron
Have they been issuing licenses to divorced people and if so, did they obtain verification that the divorce was on the grounds of adultery?
Lol 1:12 that is pure genius. Is it any wonder your side lost.
These folks have class and integrity. Unfortunately, that's not how the game is played anymore. They should have kept their jobs and done everything in their power to sabotage the paper-work. Just as in the case of these bakeries that are being forced out of business. Don't refuse to bake the cake. On the contrary, produce the nastiest cake you can imagine and charge a huge amount. Taking the high road only works if your opponent has any decency or honor. When dealing with progressives, that is not the case.
People are being duped by groups like NOM and Focus On The Family to sacrifice themselves for the cause (a lost one). They will be unemployed and another victim of right wing selfishness.
