SFD and SPD dispatched to Cannon Drive for a priority 4 DOA, 35-year-old female. Medical Examiner requested. Command also request Central to notify the health department about a possible heroin overdose.
Sheriffs Office and WBI on the scene at Cannon Dr. Apparently that person was 35 y/o.
Heroin OD's in Wicomico County are an epidemic and isn't getting a lot of attention.

Joe I found a syringe in my yard the other day and called the police. Thank God a child didn't pick it up and accidentally stick himself. It was capped but had blood in it.
Overdose on Heroin? that's impossible. Seeing as how there is no correct dosage to take, since it's illegal. Any dose of Heroin, whether it kills you or not, is an overdose.
We need a bike path more than drug interdiction.
1 less POS to worry about. good riddance
Did anyone see the show Drugs Inc about heroin that was filmed in Baltimore city?
Evidently one of the dealers talks about how a lot of the overdoses are "testers." These are people who voluntarily because they are addicted test the heroin for potency. If the tester dies the dealers know to cut it more and if they don't get high to add more heroin to the mix. The testers get the heroin for free.
The person who told me about the episode said the dealer was so nonchalant and uncaring that someone had died as if it's all part of a days business.
1:49 - wait a minute...some dealer just lost a customer! Now (s)he faces reduction of income - how will they buy food, gas, rent, or their own drugs?
Sarcasm off.......TS to both of them!
You know...I get that there is a stereotype that follows the drug scene and those in that type of lifestyle, however, did you ever stop to think that this person has a family! It could just as easily be your mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, etc., and I'm sure that you would not like seeing the evil things that are said on some of these blogs/sites.
And I'm sure that you are saying that no one in your family would EVER do any type of drug, especially not heroin. Well, let me just tell you that a year ago I would have said the same thing, however, that was not the case. Thank God that my family member has received the help they need and is able to rebuild their life. Unfortunately, that is not the case with so many others and their families. Just something for those that are so quick to be so judgemental to think about.
Well stated Anonymous at 2:42PM Right now a family is having to face the loss of a loved one. How sad that so many people are so quick to judge. I only hope her family does not read the hurtful things being said on here.
2:42 You are so right. I'm sure that many people can relate to your post.
1:49, what a hateful uncaring human you must be,just hope u never have to face such a situation, losing a loved one to drugs or alcohol.Prayers to the family.
So many losing their lives to this drug is due to legally prescribed medications that doctors are to quick to prescribe and continue to prescribe until the person is addicted to the point of total dependence. Can't these doctors tell if their patients are addicted? You would think after years of prescribing pain meds to the same person they would at the very least expect it. Do any of us know this is not the case with this person? Don't let your heart turn cold towards people when you don't know anything about them. As another person said, this is someones loved one, Be kind. Say a prayer for the surviving family members and others suffering the loss of this person. Wouldn't you want the same if you were in these circumstances?
Be kind.
Rock on!!
The epidemic is everywhere. It affects all walks of life. It crosses all boundaries and leaves no family out. Everyone has someone on it whether it is son, daughter, grandchild, nice or nephew. Trust me
Thinning out the heard of stupid people.
Good to see that the comments became more human. That's right, we don't know anything about the person and we shouldn't judge. Condolences to the family.
Hogan is calling a summit on heroin epidemic in state. It isn't just the public's view of a typical junkie that uses, white collar educated employed people are getting hooked...and their privileged children.
It is fighting the number people from well to home and prominent hard working families who are addicted or overdosed on heroin. I remember running to one young lady a few years ago who told me she was going into rehab in a few days. I was shocked when read in the newspaper they found her dead with a needle in arm in a bathroom. People please talk to your kids about drugs. Be compassion heroin is a serious problem on the shore.
Ohio has 5 fatal overdoses a day.
I have known many people in Wicomico to die of a heroin overdose.
If you mess with the needle or the spoon the reaper is at your door. Let them be critical Joe. The bottom line is she stuck the needle in her arm I do not need to know what she was at one time. Sorry folks 96% rehab failure. These people are real life zombies. Keep Jackin the Smack. Yes I lost family to this shit. Your softness leads to their death trust me tough love is the only answer. Rehab is a joke.
So keep given em money for heat and groceries because it makes YOU feel good. That money is running right up that vein. Stop enabling these people. You are as addicted as they are. wtf
9:24 is correct. Rehab can be referred to as The Rehab Industrial Complex. So much money in it and the economy depending on those it employs that there is no real help to get people off drugs.
Ty I am part of the family n this is a hard time for us as well as her son
Ty I am part of the family n she has a son this is very sad
Ty
Very well said.. Regardless what she did.. She still has family and kids.. Grow up people..
She had teeth removed, given oxycoden, got hooked and ended up on heroine. Does it make it ok, hell no! Some of you get on here and run everyone down, last one was the guy on the corner, homeless or not. Driving a car, speeding in and out of traffic, maybe one of yours will die today maybe you, maybe those on here will say good, one less speeder on the road
Ok Bottom line is this Herion has been a issue for years crazy part is your just now hearing about it. Hell heroin OD's were and are a normal occurance but wait I guess Obama and the Liberal Democrats created it right????? SARCASM OFF!
10:25 Yes actually the liberals have exacerbated the addicting problem by calling it a disease which gives an excuse for those with the addiction and their families and friends.
Addiction is not a disease. Anyone, at any time, can stop by will power and determination and you are "cured."
Diseases are cured or controlled by medical intervention.
As far as the pain killer angle, that's not true. When you have true pain, and take pain meds they immediately find the pulsing receptors in the brain yelling "pain" and attach to them. When you take pain meds with no pain, the medicine is searching for the brain receptors that are screaming out "pain" and can't find them because they aren't there. This is what causes addiction and NOT taking medicine for actual pain. More excuses as to why someone gets addicted when in fact it needs no more explanation than free will.
