The first confirmed case of CWD in Maryland was reported in February 2011 and the second was found in 2014, both from Allegany County. Maryland is one of more than 20 states and Canadian provinces with CWD documented in deer, elk or moose.
“Chronic Wasting Disease has become firmly established in the region since it was initially found in West Virginia in 2005,” said Paul Peditto, director of DNR’s Wildlife and Heritage Service. “The Department has followed this outbreak closely and has been prepared to find additional infected deer in Maryland. We have sampled intensively for this disease since 2002 and see this as an unfortunate but inevitable outcome. We will continue to manage CWD with the best available science to minimize the impact on our deer population and the people who enjoy these great animals.”

They weren't "harvested", they were KILLED. You slimeballs from the DNR need to look up the definition of the word harvest.
I really would like to know if venison has now been poisoned like the rest of the food chain. You cannot eat beef because it is chocked full of antibiotics that make your daughters grow breasts at age 5 and the growth hormones are causing cancer. Venison was all we had left. I guess it is back to free range chicken.

You can put chickens in a mud lot, feed them commercial grain, and call them "free range" since they're not in a cage. You fall for the marketing ploys of Agriculture that wants to pump that money out of your wallet.
Want to have a better meat supply, do it yourself. Organic means nothing as well. Just marketing hype to drain your money. Nothing wrong with the deer around here locally. I have harvested many, and have never seen them as healthy as they are right now. Great fat, great meat color and solid weights.
