I remember when the weatherman just had a barometer and forecast the weather better than now with multi-million dollar radar and computers.
It is even better in south florida...sunny and 78.
You can keep Florida... I love the snow. I like to visit Florida in the winter some times....but with the hottest summer on record last year.... you will be coming north before you know it that is if you don't hit a sinkhole on your way out.
and you can keep paying MD state income tax while i swim in my pool 10 feet from the intercoastal. Try building a home in MD on the water within 100 feet. LOL
Can I add it was far warmer in maryland this past summer.....plus jobs.....progress...I could go on and on....
I loved the snow fall today. It was beautiful-while it lasted. Took Big Furry Dog for a walk in the woods. The snow thrilled him.
Now tonight sitting in my PJ's and slippers in front of a hot fire, drinking a cup of decaf with Big Furry Dog sound asleep by my side.
I like the change of season's in MD and don't think I would like living in FL.
I lived in Fla once for two weeks. Too damn hot and it was only April. Alligators laying in middle of roads sunning themselves. No thank you.
Just like any other place, it is what you make it.
Some people just don't get it....there are folks like myself that enjoy the tax benefits and warm weather in florida 6-8 months of the year and also have homes in northern states to spend the summer and fall. Simply minds can only comprehend owning one residence not 3 or 4, but they are also the ones bashing us folks on here that have been successful in life.
12:13 AM You, my friend, are exactly right. I own a place in Scottsdale and I love it there. I keep my MD home and share my time between the two depending on the weather. I don't do it for tax purposes, I do it because I love both places. Yes, I've been very successful in my business & so much agree about the ones on this site basing us folks on here who have been successful in life. We've earned it and made a lot of sacrifices for it, i.e., working long hours and even weekends, etc., etc. Happy I could retire at a young age & enjoy family & friends.
12:13 I do own several residences including 2 abroad where the beaches there are far more appealing than those in FL. Appealing because they are less populated. Crime of any kind is non existence too.
As far as taxes are concerned I pay well into the 6 figures plus that much in real estate taxes, and I really don't care. Not that I like paying taxes but it's not something I worry about. If I were to save 10's of millions I would have to consider moving, but it's not worth leaving my bucolic MD farm just to save a bit of money.
I guess it all depends on your definition of successful but I don't think worrying about a few measly tax benefits is something to get yourself all defensive over.
Tax breaks and climate don't excite me very much either. Privacy does. It's nearly impossible to get the privacy I have anywhere else.
If anything I would like to look out my window and see mountains.
