SC teacher criticized for stomping the American flag during lesson agrees to resign

CHAPIN, S.C. – A South Carolina high school teacher who talked glowingly about the U.S. and the importance of embracing freedom while stomping on an American flag in his classroom has agreed to resign at the end of this school year.

The attorney for Chapin High School teacher Scott Compton and the Lexington-Richland 5 School District released a joint statement Friday announcing Compton's decision.

On the flip side he'll be hired by some school that shares his beliefs.

I am inclined to agree with him mostly because of a quote from God/JC/The Holy Ghost. Something about not worshiping false idols. Nothing resides in the cloth that makes up the American Flag. Everything we think the American Flag stands for comes from within ourselves. Or at least it used to.

Still he probably should have refrained from that

It's a symbol, not a false idol, you moron! The American flag shall not be desecrated!! You should perhaps try living in another country if you just don't get it! WOW!! Glad my husband's out of town, he would go ballistic. He, his son, his dad, & grandfather all served in vartious branches of the service, with his grandfather being a Pearl Harbor survivor until his death a few years ago. His dad & grandfather are rolling over in their graves at your complete lack of understanding of our flag's meaning. Someone should stomp a mudhole in this teacher's a$$!!

Why? Maybe the demonstration of our right to freedom of expression/ protest, which has had American blood spilled for it, is somehow lost here. If a free person actually believes there there is a situation in our Country that needs this type of attention drawn to it, then doing this act has to be freely allowed and respected.

Even when us hippies were protesting the Viet Nam war it was happening, and taught then that it was our right, and it is.

It's a hated sight and repulsive, but so was Viet Nam, and really, all these wars since over oil, poppies, guns and other wonderful drugs.

Sad, but true.

Your mind is twisted...You enjoy the freedoms of others sacrifice while disrespecting their sacrifice and bragging it your right, The same right they died giving you.
