What I Find Unfortunate And Unfair

Earlier today I published a Press Release about a fatal accident early this morning.

The release stated, "Preliminary investigation reveals alcohol may have been a factor."

Now here's what I see wrong about this statement. First of all, there is the possibility that the Family could have had alcohol in the car and the containers were compromised in this horrific accident.

When I think about it, I 'm not saying it wasn't at all possible but one would think that it would be pretty unusual for someone to be traveling with their Family at 3:00 in the morning after drinking, just my thoughts.

The problem I see is, there is never a follow up Press release stating alcohol was NOT a factor, (should that be the case). Now the information is on the Internet along with names.

I can't tell you how many times I have reached out to public officials and legislators asking them to change the protocol on any and all incidents like this, including DUI/DWI. Until that person is convicted, (found guilty) WHY is law enforcement allowing such information to be on record for the world to see? You wouldn't believe just how many of these Press Releases we've published in which people are found NOT GUILTY.

That being said, why can't they simply publish only the people who are found guilty? IF they choose to continue to publish information the way they do now, they should be required to do a follow up Press Release announcing those who are found INNOCENT and clear their name.

Good point. I always thought that practice was unfair and bias.
